Position Summary

The Rig Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing drilling and workover equipment to support safe and reliable offshore operations. This role focuses on mechanical, hydraulic, and instrumentation systems while ensuring compliance with safety standards and hazardous area requirements.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on drilling and workover (WO) equipment
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and drive system failures
  • Maintain and repair hydraulic drive systems and associated components
  • Inspect, service, and support drilling instrumentation systems
  • Perform maintenance activities in hazardous area classified environments
  • Follow and enforce Lockout/Tagout (LO/TO) procedures during all maintenance work
  • Identify equipment issues and recommend corrective actions
  • Maintain maintenance logs and report equipment status to rig leadership
  • Comply with all offshore safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 6 years of oilfield experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in a Rig Mechanic or similar role working with drilling and/or workover equipment
  • Proven experience with drilling instrumentation
  • Strong working knowledge of hydraulic drive systems
  • Experience maintaining equipment in hazardous offshore environments
  • Demonstrated understanding and application of LO/TO procedures
  • Mechanical or technical training preferred
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with a safety‑first mindset
  • Ability to work offshore on a 28/28 rotation

  • Offshore industrial setting
  • Exposure to weather, heavy equipment, and hazardous energy sources
  • Physically demanding role requiring adherence to strict safety standards
