Senior Credit Analyst-Commercial Banking

Role Description

We are seeking a results-driven Senior Credit Analyst for our Commercial portfolio with sound experience in evaluating, structuring, and monitoring complex commercial lending relationships. Skilled in conducting in-depth financial statement analysis, cash flow modeling, and risk assessment to support sound credit decisions. Adept at preparing detailed credit memoranda, recommending loan structures, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal risk management standards.

 

Primary Duties

  • Performs in-depth and complex financial analysis and financial modelling, economic, industry and other specific risk analysis for preparation of credit applications and Term Sheets within specified timeframes, including recommendations for the structuring of facilities to meet the customers’ requirements
  • Coordinates, prepares and recommends credit facilities for approval by the Account Manager for adjudication by Credit Risk Management (CRM).
  • To monitor and supervise the activities of junior credit analysts to ensure all credit requests are handled in a timely manner and completed within the normal time frames.
  • Conduct quarterly performance feedback sessions with direct reports, and provide coaching and recommend training activities, where necessary towards improving performance standards and overall professional development
  • Performs market research which is presented to Account Manager – Commercial Banking for the development of Annual Business Plans, in order to achieve the assigned Retail and Commercial Banking targets.
  • Identify, solicit and win new business arising from the management of the existing Retail and Commercial Banking Portfolio, through actively monitoring the client’s business operations and industry and identifying/recommending additional financing or investment needs.
  • Engages actively in marketing and cross-selling the Group’s products & services with Account Manager-Commercial Banking to develop ‘top of mind’ relationship with clients to increase market share and achieve assigned Team targets
  • Oversee the Teams’ robust portfolio management framework, ensuring diligent follow up for supporting documentation for annual reviews, renewal of collateral items, compliance with all recurring KYC/AML reporting requirements, completion and timely submission of all internal reporting requirements.
  • Authorizes the payment of cheques in excess of overdraft limits as per delegated authority.
  • Liaises and follows up with customers to ensure regularization of delinquent accounts which also includes taking the necessary action for recovery where applicable
  • Instructs and liaises with external bodies (Attorneys, Valuators, Insurers, other Banks etc.) in the routine operation of executing duties and perfecting securities.
  • Prepares and submits all specialized internal reporting requirements in a timely and accurate manner including which, where applicable, include recommended action plan for high-risk accounts and Loan Provisioning.
  • Recommends to Account Manager- Commercial Banking restructuring plan for non-performing accounts as well as initiating legal action where necessary.
  • Oversees the Retail and Commercial Banking Portfolio in the absence of Account Manager - Commercial Banking.
  • Liaises regularly with Operational Units within the Group on matters pertaining to Risk, Legal, Finance, Treasury etc.
  • Interacts and maintains working relationships including responding to customers’ enquiries, incoming and outgoing calls both local and foreign in a courteous and timely manner consistent with operating standards and escalation to Manager where necessary.
  • Maintain a hard and digital filing system to secure copies of all corporate credit proposals, collateral, supporting documentation and internal reports, to facilitate easy retrieval and availability for internal audit purposes.
  • Provide prompt and courteous service to prospective customers and establish cordial working relationships within office environs to foster overall customer satisfaction.
  • Acquire and maintain knowledge of the Bank’s loan products / services and policies in order to respond to inquiries / concerns / or complaints directed to you by resolving those matters within your discretion.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of customer information and report any unusual occurrences or fraudulent activity to the Supervisor or Manager.
  • Completes special projects and other related activities as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Business/ Economics or related field from an accredited institution
  • A minimum of five (5) years banking experience in Credit in a Financial / Accounting or similar environment, three (3) of which must be at a Supervisory Level

 

Business & Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in the use of personal computers with in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Good analytical, research and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex financial statements
  • Good deal valuation and structuring skills
