The Senior Communication Officer is required to play a key role in assisting the Director, External Affairs and Communication in supporting the Commission’s global engagement strategy.

A.    Job Summary

The Senior Communication Officer is required to play a key role in assisting the Director, External Affairs and Communication in supporting the Commission’s global engagement strategy by fostering relationships with international regulatory bodies, monitoring global securities trends, and ensuring compliance with international standards. This role contributes to strengthening cross-border cooperation and promoting market integrity and investor protection.

 

B.    Responsibilities / Accountabilities

Works with the Director, External Affairs and Communication to:

  • Formulate and implement international relations strategies aligned with the Commission’s goals.
  • Researching global securities developments and prepare accurate reports/briefs on global trends.
  • Ensure the Commission’s policies align with international best practices and standards (e.g., IOSCO principles).
  • Build and maintain relationships with foreign governments, embassies, and international agencies.
  • Negotiate agreements and ensure compliance with international standards and protocols.
  • Monitor global developments and provide timely reports on international issues impacting the Commission.
  • Prepare briefing notes, position papers, and policy recommendations.
  • Plan and co-ordinate the Commission’s international and regional activities, identifying opportunities and areas for institutional strengthening.
  • Evaluate and respond to communiqués from regional and international organizations, particularly IOSCO.
  • Prepare proposals to address issues related to IOSCO and other international and regional organizations relevant to the work of the Commission.
  • Facilitate knowledge exchange to enhance the Commission’s regulatory capabilities.
  • Organize international delegations, meetings, and events.
  • Maintain records of international agreements and engagements.
  • Represents the Commission at conferences and seminars.
  • Participates in assessing the performance of staff by collaborating with the Director on performance monitoring and appraisals. 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

 C.    Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations or a related field.
  • A Master’s Degree or post graduate qualifications in the above-mentioned discipline or related field will be an asset.
  • Multilingual ability will be an asset.
  • Five (5) years’ experience in a related discipline.
  • Three (3) years’ experience supervising staff at a professional level.
  • Any relevant combination of education, training and experience will be considered.

Monthly Salary Range (TT) $17,682 - $27,347
