Senior Associate – Corporate and Investment Banking

Job Summary

Driving Corporate and Investment Banking activity through the engineering of financial solutions and the creation of tailored financial products to meet the needs of Borrowers and Issuers in the regional and international markets. Coaching and mentoring Associates in understanding and delivering on client and unit objectives.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Creating transaction structures to support client funding needs and/ or solutions that will deliver value to the client.
  • Managing the transaction process and client expectations from the origination process to the approval and disbursement phase within expected timeframes.
  • Ensuring that all relevant documentation and reports are accurately and completely generated within agreed timeframes – Credit Applications, Reviews, Legal Documentation.
  • Preparing proposals and pitches to new clients ensuring the accuracy and quality of data in keeping with their defined business needs to win new business within expected timelines.
  • Preparing the Annual Review as required.
  • Preparing and/ or reviewing credit applications to seek approval for high value merchant banking facilities including arranging/co-arranging of Bonds, Notes, Loans and Leases.
  • Assessing risks involved in merchant banking opportunities and submitting credit approvals for participation by the Bank.
  • Developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with external and internal stakeholders.
  • Coaching and mentoring associates and team members in areas of expertise.
  • Building and managing Transaction Spreadsheets, Term Sheets and overseeing the execution of the transaction on an ongoing basis.
  • Ensuring accurate billing, account payment, records management and effective communication on behalf of clients on a monthly basis and as needed.
  • Monitoring fundamental economic, industrial and corporate developments through the analysis of information obtained from financial publications and services, investment banking firms, government agencies, trade publications, company sources, and personal interviews.

Education & Qualifications:

  • University degree in Economics, Finance, or Business from a recognized tertiary institution.

Training:

  • Expert Level competence in Microsoft Suite of products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and Bloomberg.

Experience:

  • At least three (3) years investment or merchant banking experience.
  • Experience in liaising with corporate, governmental and individual clientele.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Financial Institutions Act and the Bank’s underwriting guidelines.
