Reports To: Security Manager

Position Summary

The Security Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating on-site security operations to safeguard Telecom Inc.’s personnel, assets, facilities, and critical telecommunications infrastructure.

The Security Supervisor acts as a key liaison between management, internal stakeholders, and external agencies, supporting business continuity through effective risk management, incident response, and emergency preparedness.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate day-to-day security operations across assigned Telecom Inc. facilities, ensuring continuous protection of personnel, assets, and critical telecommunications infrastructure.
  • Supervise, deploy, and support security officers to ensure adherence to company policies, post orders, and service standards.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Telecom Inc. management, internal departments, contractors, and external stakeholders on all security-related matters.
  • Implement, monitor, and enforce security policies, procedures, access control standards, and reporting protocols in alignment with corporate and regulatory requirements.
  • Coach, train, and evaluate security personnel to strengthen operational readiness, customer service, ethical conduct, and compliance with security standards.
  • Maintain operational preparedness by ensuring officers are fully knowledgeable and compliant with:
    • Emergency response and business continuity procedures
    • Fire prevention, detection, and response measures
    • Evacuation and lockdown protocols
    • Hazard identification and HAZMAT awareness
    • Incident, injury, and accident reporting requirements
  • Assess, document, and report security incidents, safety hazards, breaches, and operational risks, providing accurate and timely reports with recommendations for corrective action.
  • Administer corrective and disciplinary measures in accordance with company policy, including counseling, performance improvement actions, and formal warnings.
  • Plan, prepare, and manage duty rosters, leave schedules, and overtime allocations to ensure adequate coverage during peak operations, special projects, public holidays, and emergency situations.
  • Build and sustain professional working relationships with:
    • Telecom Inc. management and operational teams
    • Service providers and contractors
    • Guyana Police Force, Fire Service, and emergency response agencies
  • Oversee the operational readiness, maintenance, and proper use of security assets, including patrol vehicles, communication devices, CCTV systems, access control systems, and protective equipment.
  • Lead and actively participate in emergency responses, drills, investigations, and security initiatives to ensure rapid, controlled, and compliant outcomes.

 

Qualifications & Training

Academic Qualifications

  • Minimum five (5)CXC General Proficiency (or equivalent) with passes in English Language and Mathematics and a Technical or Vocational Certificate in Security Operations, Occupational Safety, or a related field from a recognized institution(e.g. TVET institutions)

Professional & Technical Training

  • Certified Security Supervisor or Guard Training Programme from a recognized local or regional provider
  • Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) or Risk Management training
  • Fire Safety and Emergency Response certification
  • First Aid and CPR certification (current)
  • Training in Incident Reporting and Investigations

Experience

  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in security operations, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory role
  • Background in security management, law enforcement, military, or safety operations required.
  • Prior experience in mall, commercial, logistics, manufacturing, or large-scale facility security is an asset.

  • Ability to prepare reports, schedules, and disciplinary documentation with accuracy and professionalism.
  • Flexible availability, including weekends, public holidays, and special events.
  • Effective written and verbal communication
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and situational awareness
  • Ability to respond calmly and decisively in high-risk or emergency situations
