The General Assistant of Facilities is mainly responsible for maintaining the building (industrial cleaning), grounds and equipment in a clean and sanitized condition.
• Wash, clean, and sanitise large kitchen equipment including pots, braising pans, trays, airline carts, containers, utensils, and other production tools used in the catering operation.
• Sort incoming equipment by type and prepare items for the dishwashing process.
• Prepare the dishwashing machine for operation by ensuring the machine is functioning properly and that the required cleaning chemicals are available.
• Prepare soak bins with the required chemicals to remove grease and food residue from equipment and utensils.
• Load and unload dishwashing machines and organise clean equipment on designated racks and trolleys.
• Handle and transport equipment carefully to prevent damage or breakage.
• Ensure all cleaned equipment meets sanitation and hygiene standards before returning to the production area.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the dishwashing area, floors, drains, and surrounding workspaces.
• Perform routine cleaning and sanitation of the building including kitchens, food production areas, storage areas, offices, hallways, and restrooms.
• Sweep, mop, wash, and disinfect floors, walls, work surfaces, and equipment to maintain a clean and sanitary environment.
• Remove garbage and food waste from production and common areas and ensure proper disposal in designated waste areas.
• Clean and sanitise drains, garbage bins, and waste disposal areas to maintain hygiene standards.
• Replenish sanitation and cleaning supplies as required.
• Discard unserviceable or damaged equipment as instructed by the Supervisor or Manager.
• Assist with moving equipment, supplies, airline carts, and containers where operational support is required.
• Participate in the Company’s mandatory stock count exercises when required.
• Ensure all HSSE, Quality, and HACCP procedures are adhered to at all times.
• Follow all Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) rules and regulations including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Report any safety hazard, maintenance issue, or equipment malfunction to the Supervisor immediately.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organised work environment in accordance with company policies and regulatory standards.
• Attend departmental meetings and follow all operational procedures and company policies.
• Perform any additional duties as assigned by Management.
• CXC O’Level Certificate with passes in English Language and Mathematics is considered an asset.
• At least one (1) year experience in sanitation, cleaning, food production, hospitality, or a similar environment would be advantageous.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment while maintaining hygiene and safety standards.
• The role requires extended periods of standing, walking, bending, lifting, and carrying equipment.
• Must be able to lift and move moderate to heavy items such as pots, containers, and airline carts.
• Must be comfortable working in environments that may be wet, cold, or fast-paced.
