Responsible for managing and leading a sales team to achieve business objectives, including sales targets, market share growth, and customer satisfaction. This role involves developing strategies, overseeing execution, and fostering a high-performing team environment.

Key Responsibilites

  • Supervise, mentor, and motivate the sales team to meet and exceed performance goals. 

  • Implement sales strategies and action plans in line with organizational objectives. 

  • Monitor and analyze sales performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement. 

  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and consumer preferences to identify opportunities. 

  • Provide regular reports on sales performance, market dynamics, and team activities to senior management. 

  • Ensure proper execution of promotional campaigns, trade marketing initiatives, and merchandising standards. 

  • Collaborate with marketing teams to implement localized marketing strategies. 

  • Oversee the sales team’s daily operations, including route planning and territory management. 

  • Manage budgets, sales incentives, and expense reports. 

  • Assist and provide support in setting up and using Hand Held system. 

  • Ensure drivers conduct routine maintenance checks on vehicles. 

  • Assist in the merchandising and rotation of stock at all outlets. 

  • Assist in training, coaching and mentoring Cigarettes team. 

  • Assist in gathering data for Market Reports for WITCO. 

  • Assist in monitoring the monthly sales targets for salesmen. 

  • Become familiar with ordering guidelines of WITCO so that a consistent supply of goods is achieved. 

  • Perform salesman duties when required. 

  • Prepare Daily Sales Reports, as required. 

  • Ensure all deposit bags are properly sealed and logged in the Container Receipt Book for collection by Security personnel on a daily basis. 

  • Ensure that all goods are received, stored and secured. 

  • Ensure proper scheduling of staff to achieve set tasks and objectives. 

  • Ensure that delivery vehicles are properly loaded and leave on time. 

  • Co-ordinate deliveries with the warehouse to collect products from various locations. 

  • Ensure the Cigarettes Department is opened and closed in a secure and timely manner on a daily basis. 

  • Respond to any emergencies as needed. 

  • Resolve customer queries and concerns in a timely and professional manner. 

  • Be fully aware of the current trade dynamics and sales trends as it relates to their categories, including the various channels, key outlets, key buyers and in store managers. 

  • Sustain rapport with external and internal customers by making periodic visits; exploring specific needs and anticipating new opportunities. 

  • Build and promote strong relationships with customers. 

  • Assist in other areas of work based on the needs of the department and any other area as necessary in support of Company activities. 

  • All responsibilities and accountabilities must be executed in accordance with the company’s Customer Service Management System (CSMS), Quality Health and Safety Environment (QHSE) and Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) policies and practices. 

Knowledge & Skills

  • Must be able to effectively communicate with all customers and staff and members of the management team. 

  • Must be able to make effective decisions and to take disciplinary action as needed. 

  • Ability to analyze data, forecast trends and develop actionable strategies. 

  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills. 

  • Must be able to work flexible and long hours as required by the operations demands 

  • Must have a reliable working vehicle and cell phone 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field (preferred but not always required). 

  • 3–5 years of sales experience in the CPG industry, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory role. 

  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and managing high-performing teams. 

  • Strong understanding of the CPG industry, including distribution channels and retail environments.
