ON-THE-ROAD SALES REPRESENTATIVE

Position Summary

Blinds Designs Limited is seeking a motivated, results-driven On-the-Road Sales Representative to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for visiting customers at residential and commercial locations, assessing their needs, taking accurate measurements, recommending suitable window treatment solutions, preparing job details for production, and ensuring customer satisfaction from initial consultation through installation and final payment.

This role requires strong sales ability, excellent customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects while meeting established sales targets.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development

  • Identify and pursue potential new customers through networking, referrals, and prospecting activities.
  • Promote the company's products and services to residential and commercial clients.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships to encourage repeat business and referrals.
  • Assist in developing and implementing sales strategies and tactics to achieve company objectives.
  • Participate actively in the company's sales, marketing, and public relations initiatives.

Customer Consultations

  • Attend scheduled customer appointments assigned by Customer Service Representatives.
  • Conduct on-site consultations and assessments.
  • Take accurate measurements for blinds, shades, shutters, and other window treatment products.
  • Recommend appropriate products, materials, colours, and solutions based on customer needs and budgets.
  • Explain product features, functionality, and benefits to customers.

Project Management & Follow-Up

The Sales Representative is responsible for managing assigned projects from consultation to completion, including:

  • Measuring all assigned appointments.
  • Confirming installation dates and project deadlines.
  • Assisting customers with colour and material selections.
  • Confirming areas and specifications to be manufactured.
  • Collecting and recording deposits.
  • Ensuring invoices are settled and paid.
  • Communicating specific installation requirements, tools, and equipment needed.
  • Conducting quality assurance checks and customer follow-ups.
  • Attending major installations when required.
  • Assisting with installations when necessary to ensure deadlines are met.

Administrative Duties

  • Provide daily updates to the main office regarding appointment statuses.
  • Submit all measurements via WhatsApp and/or Evernote by the end of each workday.
  • Complete and submit all job sheets daily to facilitate production.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, measurements, quotations, payments, and project progress.
  • Ensure all discounts are approved by the Sales Manager before being offered to customers.

Payment Collection

  • Collect and accurately record all forms of customer payments.
  • Ensure collected payments are securely stored and submitted according to company procedures.
  • Accept responsibility for all collected funds until properly submitted.
  • Report any discrepancies immediately to management.

Performance Expectations

Sales Targets

  • Monthly sales targets will be established and reviewed regularly.
  • Only invoices that are fully paid and settled will count toward monthly sales targets.
  • Repairs and cleaning services are excluded from target calculations.
  • Any mistakes, rework, or additional costs incurred due to errors may be deducted from target achievements.
  • Sales targets are reviewed quarterly (March, June, September, and December) and are subject to adjustment based on business needs.

Reporting & Meetings

Attend meetings with the Sales Manager to discuss:

  • Sales strategies
  • Performance targets
  • Income projections
  • Appointment scheduling and territory planning
  • New business opportunities and prospective clients

Qualifications & Requirements

Required

  • Valid driver's licence.
  • Full access to a reliable motor vehicle.
  • Strong sales, negotiation, and customer service skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when measuring and preparing job specifications.
  • Basic computer and smartphone proficiency for communication and reporting.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in sales, field sales, home improvement, construction, interior design, blinds, shutters, or window treatments.
  • Experience taking measurements and preparing estimates.
  • Experience with installations or technical product sales.

Product Knowledge & Training

The Sales Representative will be required to learn and maintain knowledge of:

  • Company products and services.
  • Product materials and specifications.
  • Measurement techniques and installation requirements.
  • Product functions and operating mechanisms.
  • Company policies, procedures, and pricing structures.

Performance Reviews

Employee evaluations are conducted annually in December and may also be conducted periodically throughout the year based on performance, business requirements, or developmental needs.

Working Conditions

  • Extensive travel to customer locations is required.
  • The role involves both indoor and outdoor work environments.
  • Flexible work hours may be required to accommodate customer appointments and installation schedules.
  • Occasional lifting, measuring, and installation assistance may be required.

1. JOB REQUIREMENTS & DUTIES As a Sales Representative you will report to the Sales Manager and your responsibilities will primarily involve but will not be limited to: • Attendance of meetings to discuss the following with sales manager: o Strategies o Targets o Approximate income figures o Locations and Appointments o New Business to approach • All appointments will be updated throughout each day (as received) which are to be assigned to each Sales Representative by the Customer Service Representatives • Communication to main office stating status of each appointment to be updated daily • All invoices must be completely settled (paid in full) to count towards target monthly • Repairs / cleaning are not included in target amount • All mistakes / additional cost are deducted from target amount • Each representative is responsible for follow ups / finalizing each job with the following: o Measuring each appointment o Installation dates / deadlines ( if applicable) o Colour options o Areas to be manufactured o Deposit collected o Invoice settled / paid o Specific details / tools / equipment needed to complete job o Quality assurance / follow ups o Possibly installing job themselves to ensure deadlines are met o Being on site for major installations • Must have full access to reliable motor vehicle • Identify potential and new clients by promoting products • Develop and foster client and networking relationships in order to retain current clients and attract new clients and assist in developing sales strategies and tactics • All measurements has to be sent to the office by whats app / uploaded to evernote by the end of each day for estimates to be generated • All job sheets are to be completed each day to begin production • All discounts have to be approved by Sales Manager • Participate actively in the company’s public relations, sales and marketing initiatives in order to help meet revenue and profitability targets • Collection of all methods of payment which is to be recorded accurately and safely stored • All methods of payments collected are your responsibility – if misplaced arrangement for repayment will have to be discussed with upper management • Sales Representative will be required to learn the technicalities and functions or each product, including but not limited to materials and accurate measurements • Sales Targets are reviewed every quarter (March, June, September and December) and are subject to change • Employee evaluations are done in December of each year and may be done as needed based on performance.
