Automotive Art, a key retailer in automotive accessories in Jamaica, is seeking an accomplished and experienced leader with a successful track record for managing people and attaining sales and performance targets to fill the position of 

 

RETAIL STORE MANAGER -KINGSTON

 

  Some of the key duties of this position include the following:

  • Supervision and motivation of staff, including employee evaluation, hiring, counseling, training, and development to ensure that employees provide highest quality service and always using effective selling techniques to customers. 
  • Monitor employee performance and compliance with rules and standards and implement incentive and disciplinary actions as necessary.
  • Continuously improve customer service standards, to exceed customer expectations.
  • Recommendation to Management of need for incentive plans, departmental organizational changes and remuneration changes as required to achieve service, sales, and profit goals of company.
  • Ensure that retail facilities including the building exterior, interior, parking areas as well as equipment are maintained to franchise standards.
  • Responsible for ensuring that franchise operating standards and policies are always complied with, including, but not limited to, merchandising and house-keeping standards.
  • Responsible for implementation of marketing plans and achieving sales, margin and expenses forecasts by means of effective management techniques and vigilant control of receivables and payables.
  • Management of inventory to ensure effective inventory levels are maintained to eliminate run-out and/or overstocking of products. Includes vigilant inventory level monitoring, tracking of lost sales, monitoring of customer needs and requests, projection of sales demands and replenishment ordering from supplier(s).
  • Implementing and maintaining effective controls to safeguard company assets and eliminate potential irregularities. Includes access control to retail & wholesale inventory, weekly and monthly physical inventory verification & reconciliation and verifying that accounting systems are in accordance with established control standards.
  • Develop Automotive Art franchise and product lines through use of sound marketing techniques and customer focus.
  • Assist in developing strategic marketing plans, sales and expense forecasts and earnings budgets.
  • Responsible for developing relationships with customers and provide consultative advice to improve the effectiveness of operations and to expand the product range and quality of products.
  • Responsible for ensuring a safe work environment and that staff comply with health and safety guidelines.
  • Ensure that there is sufficient staff coverage of all positions, as well as adjusting staffing levels and rosters to meet the expected or unexpected increase in store traffic and/or transactions during promos, pay periods, etc.
  • Responsible for end-of-day reconciliations of sales which demands attention to detail, integrity, and compliance with the best financial practices and procedures and fraud prevention. 
  • Through diligent supervision, resolve discrepancies, adhere to strong security protocols, data protection, consistent staff training and proactive risk management.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
* Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing or equivalent
* A minimum of five years' work experience in a similar role which includes managing a retail store
* A successful track record of managing, motivating and engaging teams
* A successful track record of attaining sales, performance targets and KPIs
* Excellent oral and written skills
* Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Applications and retail software
* Must have good knowledge of Accounting principles and practices
* Experience and prior knowledge of the automotive industry would be an asset
* Clean police record and a valid driver's licence
