The appointee will blend strategic business development—identifying, evaluating, and onboarding high-value new retail locations—with optimal channel management and commercial growth and profitability from the existing network (sports betting, virtual games, and horse racing).

Job Responsibilities:

1. Strategic New Location Development (Acquisition Focus)

  • Market Analysis & Opportunity Mapping: Conduct rigorous market evaluations and demographic studies to identify high-footfall micro-locations with high revenue potential.
  • Selection Rubric & Evaluation: Apply a quantitative location selection rubric to assess site viability, incorporating criteria such as foot traffic, target demographic profile, competitive density, and local regulatory landscape.
  • Location Acquisition & Negotiation: Proactively source, engage, and negotiate commercially advantageous terms with potential third-party retail partners for the installation and operation of betting terminals/services.

2. Commercial Performance & Business Development (Revenue Focus)

  • Revenue Accountability: Be directly accountable for achieving aggressive monthly and quarterly targets for (a) new location activations and (b) budgeted commercial revenue from the entire managed retail channel.
  • Channel Growth: Identify and execute Business Development opportunities within the existing channel, such as upgrading technology, increasing product penetration, or securing enhanced visibility agreements.
  • Performance Review: Conduct regular, structured business reviews with top-tier partners to evaluate performance and ensure alignment with commercial goals.
  • Trade Portfolio Management: Monitor the commercial performance of the retail portfolio, identifying underperforming locations and implementing data-driven corrective action plans to optimize profitability.

3. Retail Trade Coordination & Partner Management

  • Partner Relationship Management: Build and maintain exceptional, strategic relationships with all third-party retail partners to ensure operational excellence, high brand standards, and mutual profitability.
  • Operational Standards: Ensure all partners consistently adhere to company standards for retail presentation, technology functionality, security protocols, and responsible gambling practices.
Education, Qualification & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, or a related field; a Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Professional Experience: Minimum of 3- 5 years in a commercial or sales management role, with significant experience in Business Development, Key Account Management, or retail channel expansion. Experience within the FMCG or high-transaction retail gaming/betting sector is highly preferred.
  • Commercial Acumen & P&L Management: Demonstrated success in securing and scaling profitable partnerships. Must possess the ability to manage P&L targets and translate commercial strategy into measurable revenue growth.
  • Negotiation & Influencing: Exceptional negotiation, influencing, and presentation skills required for securing new locations and managing complex, senior-level partner relationships.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Strong analytical skills, including proficiency in using location data, sales data, and performance metrics to create and defend business cases.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Solid understanding of the regulatory requirements specific to the betting and gambling industry (or a similar regulated sector) to ensure all new partnerships meet compliance standards.
  • Mobility & Field Presence: Must possess a valid Driver’s License and a reliable personal vehicle. The appointee will be required to travel extensively within the assigned region(s) to conduct site evaluations and drive field-based results.
Specific Knowledge & Special Skills:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong data and analytical Skills
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office Suite – Strong Microsoft Excel especially an asset
  • Strong organizational and coordinating skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
