Registered Nurse

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide safe, patient-centered nursing care.
2. Assess, monitor, and document patients’ clinical status.
3. Administer medications in accordance with established safety standards and institutional policies.
4. Deliver pre-operative and post-operative care.
5. Educate patients and families on treatment plans and discharge instructions.
6. Participate actively in doctors’ rounds and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team.
7. Follow up on laboratory, diagnostic, and imaging results.
8. Manage patient admissions and discharges efficiently.
9. Perform clinical procedures including venipuncture, ECGs, wound care, and operation of medical equipment (IV pumps, PCA pumps, feeding pumps, etc.).
10. Perform other related duties as may be required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

KNOWLEDGE:

• Knowledge of general Nursing theory and practice.
• Some knowledge of hospital rules and regulations.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Ability to plan, organise and supervise the work of direct reports.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and demonstrate excellent customer service.
• Ability to demonstrate integrity and maintain confidentiality.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

• Associate Degree in Nursing or Bachelor Degree in Nursing.
• Must be registered with the Nursing Council of Trinidad and Tobago.
• At least three (3) years’ relevant work experience.
• Current BLS/ACLS certification

OTHER:

• Must be able to work a shift system, weekends and public holidays.
