Registered Nurse

The BVI Health Services Authority (a client-centered healthcare organization) invites qualified and professional applicants for the position of Registered Nurse (Infection Prevention & Control).The Registered Nurse (Infection Prevention & Control) assists the Infection Prevention and Control Manager with the development and administration of efficient and professional operations of Infection Prevention and Control in accordance with company policies, practices, procedures, and applicable regulations to achieve the desired goals and objectives. Assists with all aspects of health services staffing, competency, processes, customer service, and quality improvement.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (included but not limited to):

  1. Contributes to the improvement and maintenance of the BVIHSA's quality management system, ensuring that services meet acceptable standards through activities including (but not limited to) participation in process improvement projects, intentional adherence to the applicable standards (i.e. Department Policies, DNV, ISO, etc.), participation in addressing non-conformities, etc. 
  2. Assists in overseeing and managing the administrative and operational activities of the Infection Prevention and Control Programme.
  3. Works within the multi-disciplinary infection control committee leads and coordinates work to support the development of long-term infection prevention and control strategies and annual infection prevention and control program.
  4. Assists in development of policies and procedures within the organization related to infection control
  5. Attends and actively participates in Infection Control Committee meetings.
  6. Assures compliance with regulatory requirements related to clinical operations.
  7. Participates in infection prevent and control education of all employees during orientation and annually thereafter, including classes in infection prevention and control practices and employee health.
  8. Advises staff on all aspects of infection control and maintains a safe environment for patients and staff.
  9. Monitors antimicrobial usage.
  10. To provide regular written and verbal reports on Healthcare Associated Infections (HAI) to the Infection Prevention and Control Manager and other parties as directed by the Infection Prevention and Control Manager
  11. Supervises and monitors cleanliness and hygienic practices
  12. Assists with the accident/incident investigation to identify root cause analysis of all incidents and near misses.
  13. Undertakes regular departmental Infection Control audits and makes appropriate recommendations, accordingly, ensuring that improvements are carried out in a timely manner.
  14. Works closely with members from the housekeeping teams to ensure the provision of a safe environment and maintain high standards of cleanliness, decontamination and safety within the facilities
  15. Develop and maintain a positive working environment by demonstrating flexibility, enthusiasm and reliability.
  16. Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Requirements:

Education & Experience

v  Active nursing license as a Registered Nurse.

v  Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.

v  Certification in infection control will be an asset

v  Basic understanding of regulations applicable to Infection Prevention and Control.

v  Minimum five (5) years' experience

 

Knowledge, skills and abilities

v  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

v  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

v  Sound knowledge of healthcare practices and principles

v  Sound oral and written communication skills

v  Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.

v  Strong organizational and interpersonal skills

v  Ability to complete work assignments accurately and in a timely manner

v  Computer literate and have experience working with various computer graphics and desktop publishing programs. Must be proficient in Microsoft Suite, especially Excel, Outlook & Word

v  Intermediate computer skills are essential in the use of an electronic medical record.

SALARY: Associate $36,072.00 – 46,892.00

Bachelor $44,286.00 – 57,576.00 (Commensurate with qualifications and experience)
