Massy Wood is currently recruiting for a Quality Inspector - Civil with some experience in the oil and gas industry.

 

Overview / Responsibilites

The Quality Inspector supports in the field execution of the quality assurance and quality control program by ensuring quality issues/problems within Construction/Engineering/Commissioning are identified, reported and rectified

Plans, coordinates and reports on the execution of QAQC plans within Inspection activities/findings for the Construction/Engineering Department.

Inspect, supervise and attest key hold ITP’s points along with Subcontractors quality personnel on the field.

Coordinate with Subcontractors quality on the implementation of Subcontractors Quality Programs.

Ensures Massy Wood's Quality Management system is understood and implemented. Engage in the continual improvement of Massy Wood's processes, procedures, and quality culture.

  • Document and report in a timely manner any differences encountered in the field to the IFC deliverables
  • Validates the revision of procedures, Process Plans and Work / Operations Procedures for the overall Construction activity. Liaises with the Construction/Engineering Department where necessary.
  • Identifies and evaluates Quality-related incidents / problems / non-conformances and initiates, recommends, and provides effective solutions where necessary.
  • Responsible for the initiation, collection, disposition and retention of QA/QC records in a timely manner in accordance with documented procedures.
  • Manages relationship with Sub-contracted companies to ensure compliance between subcontracted services and Client best practices.
  • Liaises with HSSE representatives (internal, client & external) to ensure inherent compliance of documentation with MWG and Client safety standards.
  • Liaises with MWG Quality Lead, Construction Superintendent, Construction Coordinators, Field Supervisors and SPAs as work progresses and provide activity updates in the form of a QA/QC Daily Report covering all assigned Projects.
  • Perform Audit surveillance as work progresses, avoid last minute discoveries, address repetitive non-compliance and monitor implementation of corrective actions in response to the identification of non-conforming products/services through QA/QC Audits or otherwise, until the unsatisfactory condition has been rectified.
  • Liaise with the site subcontractors’ QC inspectors for the resolution of site problems.
  • Review of sub-contractor procedures and quality documentation such as ITP’s, Installation and testing procedures.
  • Review and revise Massy Wood Civil ITPs and Quality Procedures to be in alignment with Client Requirements and specification.
  • Perform site visits to subcontractor workshops which include but not limited to review of rebar bending schedule, aggregate size, type and quantity verification, water quality sampling and test results review, & Material inspections.
  • Review of Inspection and testing results including but not limited construction concrete sampling, for compliance with project specification and acceptance criteria.
  • Review of concrete mix design for compliance to project specification acceptance criteria.
  • Review of grout mix design for compliance to project specification acceptance criteria.
  • Verify formwork is sufficient and acceptable before release for concrete /grout pour
  • Provide guidance to construction team on civil shoring design type for site based on soil type and project specification acceptance criteria
  • Review site survey report and verify its data against site actuals
  • Provide civil technical advice to the construction team where the need is required
  • Lead and deliver quality talk/presentation in daily site Toolbox meetings.
  • Active participation in Quality improvements drives.
  • Maintains a log of items that require corrective actions and reporting such to site construction Team in a timely manner.
  • Punch listing of items and communication of such to the site construction leads.
  • Completion of GO Completion ITR’s.
  • Material receipt compliance inspection.
  • Civil Load Out Bag & Tag verification
  • Ensure the client is satisfied before, during and after work is completed.
  • Performs all other related job functions as required.

 

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Civil or Industrial Engineering from a recognized institution.

Competencies & Experience: 

  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a similar position
  • A working knowledge of testing and materials practices as ASTM, D 1557, D698, D4253 and AASHTO T180 and other recognized industry standards
  • Shall demonstrate a working and thorough knowledge of Civil Materials, Mix Design, Bar bending Schedule, Grouting and its application
  • Shall demonstrate a working and thorough knowledge of Shoring its applications, installation methods, and recognized industry standards
  • As a minimum, shall have experience with construction of Plint, Concrete Pile installation, Geo Pile Installation, Foundation Construction for Packaged Equipment in plant construction…. etc.
  • Actively promotes and personally observes safety and security procedures, and uses equipment and materials properly
  • Maintains the highest level of confidentiality and trustworthiness
  • Ability to synthesize complex or diverse information
  • Ability to work effectively, safely and prioritize in a high performance, fast-paced work environment
  • Must be an excellent Team Player
  • Inspires and motivates others to work well and accepts feedback
  • Seeks ways to improve and promote quality and demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness
  • Excellent computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office.
  • Valid Certificate of Good Character (must not be older than 6 months).
  • Preference will be given to national citizens or permanent residents of Trinidad & Tobago.
