Plant Technician

The Plant Technician is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant operations of plant components and equipment involved in LPG distribution.

Operational Duties (Safety-Critical)

• Perform start-up and shutdown of plant equipment in accordance with established procedures and policies.
• Operate and monitor LPG pumps to ensure safe and efficient performance.
• Operate valves on the plant in keeping with standard operating practices.
• Start up and shut down air compressors in accordance with standard procedures.

Equipment Maintenance

• Monitor the performance of pneumatic components and promptly report malfunctions to the Production or Operations Manager.
• Assist with troubleshooting and repairs of pneumatic components in collaboration with the Plant Maintenance Manager or Production Manager.
• Perform oil changes and lubrication of plant equipment, including gearboxes, air liberators, and carousels.
• Maintain required lubrication levels for conveyor chains to ensure continuous and safe operation.
• Perform routine repairs and calibrations on filling machines.
• Align equipment such as pumps powered by motors.
• Carry out repairs to the evacuation compressor, carousel, LPG pumps, and air compressors.
• Perform mechanical work on conveyor tracks and conveyor chains when required.

Loading and Offloading

• Load bulk trucks, ensuring all hoses, fittings, and devices are securely attached.
• Offload Road Tank Wagons, ensuring all fittings, hoses, and couplings are secured and all safety procedures are followed.
• Fill and record storage tanks for vehicles utilising LPG in accordance with company and statutory safety standards.

Administrative

• Immediately inform H.S.E personnel or your Team Leader of all instances of non-adherence to HSE policies and guidelines.
• Prepare and submit daily production sheets at the start of each shift.

Health, Safety and Environment:

• Complete the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) form daily and when required and sign to confirm your understanding of all identified risks, hazards, and the corresponding preventive measures.
• Promotes and adheres to all HSSE standards, policies, procedures in the workplace, ensuring a safe and compliant environment for all stakeholders, this is inclusive of  but not limited to ensuring proper housekeeping, wearing required personal protective clothing, reporting accidents/incidents, non-compliances in a timely manner, attending the required safety meetings, completing job safety analysis forms and permits, following emergency response procedures, policies and training and abiding by OSHA.
