The QA/QC Technician Supports field QA/QC execution by identifying, reporting, and resolving quality issues in Construction/Engineering. Coordinates inspection activities, supervises key ITP points, and works with subcontractors’ quality teams to ensure compliance.

Overview / Responsibilites

Massy Wood is currently recruiting for a QA/QC Technician with extensive experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry.

 

The QA/QC Technician is responsible for assisting in the field execution of the quality assurance and quality control program by ensuring quality issues/problems within Construction/Engineering are identified, reported and rectified. This role is also responsible for planning, coordinating and reporting on the execution of QAQC plans within Inspection activities/findings as well as inspecting and supervising key hold ITP’s points along with Subcontractors quality personnel on the field.


  • Anticipate and escalate problems encountered in the fabrication facility to eliminate costly rework or re-testing.
  • Identifies and escalates Quality-related incidents / problems / non-conformances and initiates, recommends, and provides effective solutions where necessary.
  • Validation of receiving inspection documentation.
  • Review Material Take Off prior to fabrication to ensure quality requirements are accurate and according to specification.
  • Updating weld summaries /logs for all projects into the welding database
  • Maintain weld defect database and ensure updates are completed weekly.
  • Compile test packs and seek necessary approvals.
  • Review of in-process forms/ checklist are completed and signed off in real time.
  • Compile and scan fabrication packages / dossiers for all projects.
  • Preparation of handover documents (Inspection Release Notes etc), checks and balances as per job scope.
  • Liaises with internal HSSE representatives to ensure inherent compliance of documentation with Massy Wood and Client safety standards.
  • Conduct surveillances as work progresses, avoid last minute discoveries, escalate repetitive non-compliance and monitor implementation of corrective actions in response to the identification of non-conforming products/services until the unsatisfactory condition has been rectified.
  • Review of sub-contractor procedures and quality documentation such as ITP’s, inspection procedures, drawings, isometrics.
  • Review of radiograph films as required.
  • Assist in welder and procedure qualification.
  • Assist in coordination of third-party inspections.
  • Assist in maintenance and updating of QA/QC records.
  • Punch listing of items as required.
  • Performs all other related job functions as required.

 

Qualifications

  • Diploma/Certification in Construction, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering from a recognised institution.
  • Certification/Training in Quality (must be based on ISO 9001:2008) from a recognised institution (For example CQE, CQA, CQT or CQI).
  • Level I or Level II Radiographic Film Interpretation.
  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) with AWS.
  • Non-destructive Testing such as MT, PT, UT, and VT will be an asset.
  • A minimum of Seven (7) years’ experience in a similar position.
  • A working knowledge of Construction / Structural / Inspection codes and practices such as API 570, 620 and 650, ASME B31.3, AWS D1.1, API 1104, ASME Section V and IX. NACE standards, ISO 8501 & SSPC Systems and industry standards.
  • Competency and knowledge of dimensional checks- rolls, angles etc.
  • Previous experience / knowledge in a fabrication environment.
  • Actively promotes and personally observes safety and security procedures and uses equipment and materials properly.
  • Maintains the highest level of confidentiality and trustworthiness.
  • Valid Certificate of Good Character (must not be older than 6 months).
  • Preference will be given to national citizens or permanent residents of Trinidad & Tobago.
