The Purchasing Manager – Finished Goods is responsible for the management and control of imported finished goods stock levels throughout the supply chain to ensure that the Company has the right stock when and where needed in the most cost-effective manner

Job Responsibilities:

  • Leads the end-to-end purchasing cycle for all imported finished goods, including forecasting, purchase order creation, supplier follow-up, and shipment tracking.
  • Maintains the Stock Policy that guides the efficient management of stock, reviews, analyses and updates at least once per annum.
  • Negotiates the most favourable terms and conditions with suppliers and identifies new business opportunities as guided by the Marketing department 9price, product quality, payment terms, lead times, shipping).
  • Ensures that contracts are in place for all suppliers and that service level agreements form part of these contracts.
  • Ensures all imported products meet required expiry and shelf-life standards.
  • Prepares stock reports identifying high stock, slow-moving and close-to-expiry products and works with the Commercial and Marketing departments to develop depletion plans, closely monitoring the planned verses actual performance of these plans.
  • Ensures that all shipping documents are prepared by the supplier and that these meet the required standards for entry into the country.
  • Monitors economic conditions globally, assesses the potential impact on the Company and makes recommendations for actions to mitigate against any potential negative impact.
  • Promotes continuous improvement and helps build a proactive, high-performance culture within the purchasing function. 

Job Requirements:

  • CIP qualifications and/or Bachelor’s degree in Business Management.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ proven experience in Procurement, Supply Chain or Logistics.
  • Strong understanding of import processes, international logistics and supplier coordination.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (Syspro) would be an asset.
