CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS & PUBLIC RELATIONS

 

The Jamaica Council for Persons with Disabilities (JCPD) is seeking to identify a suitably qualified candidate to fill the above-mentioned post.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will ensure:

  • Draft public relations plans are developed
  • Adherence of the communication policies and procedures
  • Draft speeches, press and news releases produced
  • Communication materials produced
  • Public education programmes executed
  • Information on the activities of the Jamaica Council for Persons with Disabilities prepared and disseminated
  • Website updated and maintained
  • Facebook. Twitter and other social media accounts kept current

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

The position requires any of the following qualifications/experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications or equivalent field
  • At least three (3) years’ working experience as a communications or public relations practitioner
  • Training in public speaking would be an asset

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

  • Excellent knowledge of the media landscape
  • Excellent knowledge of communication strategies and techniques
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Government of Jamaica’s and the Jamaica Council for Persons with Disabilities’ polices, rules and regulations
  • Ability to foster and maintain a good working relationship with the media
  • Sound knowledge of Media and Public Relations protocol
  • Sound knowledge of the Access to Information and Data Protection and Disclosure Acts
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, Photoshop, Hootsuite applications
  • Graphic design skills
