The incumbent leads multiple banking transformation and technology projects, managing planning, execution, stakeholders, risks, reporting, and go-live readiness while ensuring governance and regulatory compliance.

Project Manager (Contract -1 Year)

Job Summary:

The Project Manager is responsible for providing structured oversight, coordination, and delivery management across multiple concurrent banking transformation and technology initiatives. The role will lead planning, execution, stakeholder coordination, and reporting across priority programmes which may include payments and merchant acquiring platforms (e.g., POS), ATM upgrades and process improvement & automation initiatives etc. Project focus and allocation will evolve throughout the contract period in line with delivery phases, regulatory priorities, and business needs. The incumbent will ensure disciplined project execution, cross-functional alignment, effective risk management, go-live readiness and handover while adhering to governance and regulatory expectations within the Banking Sector.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Project Planning & Delivery
    • Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, schedules, milestones, and deliverables across assigned initiatives.
    • Define scope, objectives, success metrics, and resource requirements in collaboration with project sponsors.
    • Ensure deliverables are completed on time, within scope, and aligned to business outcomes.
    • Track and manage interdependencies across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination
    • Coordinate cross-functional teams such as Operations, IT, Digital, Risk, Compliance, Vendors, and other Business Units.
    • Align stakeholders on priorities, sequencing, and deliverables.
    • Facilitate working sessions, project meetings, and milestone reviews.
    • Support vendor coordination and implementation activities where applicable.
  • Governance, Risk & Controls
    • Ensure adherence to project governance frameworks and Banking Sector control standards.
    • Identify project risks, issues, and constraints early and implement mitigation strategies.
    • Maintain risk and issue logs with clear accountability and resolution timelines.
    • Ensure required approvals, documentation, and control checkpoints are completed.
  • Monitoring & Reporting
    • Monitor project progress against plans and performance indicators.
    • Prepare and deliver structured status reports and dashboards to sponsors and steering committees.
    • Escalate material risks, delays, and scope changes in a timely manner.
    • Support audit and regulatory readiness relating to project implementation.
  • Stakeholder Communication
    • Serve as a central coordination point for project communication.
    • Provide clear and timely updates to business and executive stakeholders.
    • Manage expectations and support change readiness across impacted teams.
    • Facilitate decision-making by ensuring stakeholders have accurate and current project data.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Banking, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Project Management certification preferred (PMP, PRINCE2, Agile/Scrum, or equivalent) with practical application in complex delivery environments.
  • Minimum 5–8 years’ experience managing cross-functional projects, preferably within Banking or Financial Services.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering projects across the full lifecycle, from initiation through implementation and transition to business-as-usual
  • Familiarity with regulated environments, including governance, risk management, audit, and compliance considerations
  • Experience delivering technology-enabled transformation initiatives, including vendor-led or system implementation projects. Familiarity with digital platforms, process automation/ workflow tools or banking systems implementations is an asset.

Communication & Influence (Advanced) Produces clear, accurate, and decision-oriented reporting for technical and non-technical audiences, highlighting progress, risks, dependencies, and required actions.
  • Adaptability & Agility (Advanced)
    • Adjusts delivery approach, priorities, and focus in response to changing portfolio demands, regulatory requirements, or emerging risks as approved by Project Sponsor and Steering Committee.
  • Collaboration (Advanced)
    • Works effectively across functions and organisational boundaries to resolve issues, remove blockers, and maintain delivery momentum without direct line authority.
