The Production Engineer – Injection Moulding is responsible for directing, supervising, monitoring and coordinating the Injection Moulding processes to optimize the use of machines and manpower to meet production, quality and cost targets, as per the Company’s established policies and practices.

Job Summary

The Production Engineer – Injection Moulding is responsible for directing, supervising, monitoring and coordinating the Injection Moulding processes to optimize the use of machines and manpower to meet production, quality and cost targets, as per the Company’s established policies and practices. They shall also be responsible for investigating, sourcing developing and implementing solutions to issues in the department that affect the overall production, efficiency and raw material usage. All work shall be performed while following the rules, technical work procedures and guidelines, or ANSA Polymer, with special attention being given to Health, Safety and Environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the achievement of daily/monthly/annual production targets in accordance with the Production Plan and KPIs set.
  • Responsible for implementing the daily work programme in order to fulfil the Production Plan in terms of priority, quality, machine speed and manpower needs.
  • Develop, lead and implement innovative strategies to improve workflow efficiencies & effectiveness of the Injection Moulding department with respect to process, systems and people management.
  • Conduct quality control processes on equipment and/or facilitate, monitor and ensure compliance for the quality control process according to product specification and ISO 9001 during the entire production process.
  • Can start-up and shutdown equipment in Injection Moulding.
  • Liaise with Logistics on the transfer of all finished goods to Warehouse.
  • Participate and ensure stock-taking is completed on time and accurately.
  • Conduct audits on raw material consumption and prepare reports with recommendations for improvements.
  • Prepare Daily/Weekly Production Reports. Audit and review shift performance and material usage on the production report.
  • Can use Microsoft D365O competently, create routes for finished goods and Report as Finished (RAF) all production at the end of their shift.
  • Train/Coach direct reports on the requirements, machine usage, quality control and HSSE processes, policies and procedures as assigned by the Division Manager/Operations Manager. Monitor progress of trainees and report progress monthly to the Division Manager/Operations Manager.
  • Inform the Division Manager/Operations Manager of delays in production and the inability to comply with the production plan or any instructions from senior management,
  • Verify attendance & punctuality using Jantek for submission to HR/Payroll.
  • Coach employees on disciplinary procedures, time management and behavioural competencies required for the job(s) of direct reports.
  • Monitor, Investigate and/or report to the Division Manager/Operations Manager and action as requires, instances of daily/weekly absenteeism, tardiness or indiscipline likely to affect production in accordance to the Company’s IR Policies.
  • Investigate all incidents of non-conformances, variances, deviations from production plan and poor quality, and submit a written report with recommendations for corrective action as required.
  • Ensure Shift Technicians fill out all Production and Quality related reports & paperwork on the shift, including Downtime reports, Quality Forms and Troubleshooting/Corrective issues.
  • Perform routine quality checks as per the company’s quality management system procedures.
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) when any changeover or production related downtime exceeds its allotted timeframe.
  • Ensure all shift paperwork is completed and submitted by the end of the week. Inclusive of , but not limited to, Housekeeping forms, Flash/Reject/Waste Monitoring forms, Attendance records, Break Monitoring forms and Regrind production forms.
  • Ensures full compliance with all OSH standards and Compliance policies.
  • Ensures continuity of operations on machines in cases of absences.
  • Ensures general housekeeping standards are maintained in the department.
  • Cross train and perform duties of other team members as needed.
  • Comply with Company’s/Department’s strategies along with the Quality Management System as it relates to health, safety, security and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Perform any other job duties as required by the job function as requested by the Manager.

Qualifications & Experience

  • B.Sc. in any Engineering field.
  • Computer literate and able to use Microsoft Word & Excel.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in the Manufacturing or Oil & Gas sector.
  • Collaborative with the ability to be a key team player and possess good interpersonal skills.
  • Resilient and the ability to work effectively under pressure without becoming flustered.
  • Ability to articulate thoughts and express ideas clearly expressing oral, written, visual and non-verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and result-oriented behaviour.
  • Ability to organize work so that tasks are completed within time frames, prioritize projects, and communicate progress to supervisor and colleagues.
  • Ability to display a high level of integrity by keeping good on promises, holding self-accountable and communicate your progress to supervisors and colleagues.
  • Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to read, analyse and interpret documents such as operating instructions, technical procedure manuals, and safety rules.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve.
  • Bending may be required.
  • Be able to handle heavy lifting and moving >55 lbs.
  • Ability to drive and operate forklift.
  • Required to work after normal hours when necessary.
