Job Summary
The Procurement Strategy Specialist is responsible for supporting strategic procurement and supply chain planning through data-driven insights and market intelligence. The role focuses on analyzing procurement spend, supplier performance, demand forecasts, and supply planning data to support effective sourcing strategies, cost optimization, and supply continuity.
The position requires strong analytical capabilities to evaluate procurement and supply chain performance, identify trends, and translate complex data into actionable strategies that improve operational efficiency and support organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement Strategy & Spend Management
- Conduct detailed procurement spend analysis to identify cost drivers, savings opportunities, and sourcing efficiencies.
- Support the development and execution of strategic sourcing initiatives using data-driven insights.
- Analyze supplier pricing structures, contract terms, and procurement trends to inform negotiation strategies.
- Develop total cost of ownership (TCO) models to support procurement decision-making.
- Monitor procurement KPIs and identify opportunities to improve sourcing performance and cost efficiency.
Market Intelligence & Supplier Insights
- Monitor market trends, commodity prices, and supplier market conditions to support informed procurement strategies.
- Evaluate supplier capabilities, risks, and performance to ensure supply continuity and value creation.
- Conduct supplier benchmarking and competitive market analysis.
Demand Planning Analytics
- Analyze historical demand data, sales trends, and seasonal patterns to support demand forecasting and planning activities.
- Monitor forecast accuracy and identify demand variability and its impact on procurement requirements.
- Collaborate with sales, finance, and operations teams to align procurement activities with demand forecasts.
Supply Planning & Inventory Optimization
- Analyze supply capacity, supplier lead times, and inventory levels to support effective supply planning and replenishment strategies.
- Identify potential supply constraints and risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Support inventory optimization initiatives including safety stock analysis and service level improvements.
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and data models to support procurement and supply chain decision-making.
- Translate complex procurement and supply chain data into clear insights and recommendations for leadership.
- Ensure the integrity and accuracy of procurement and supply chain data within ERP and reporting systems.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Process Improvement
- Work closely with procurement, planning, finance, and operations teams to drive data-driven supply chain improvements.
- Identify opportunities to streamline procurement and planning processes through improved analytics and reporting.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and operational planning initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in procurement, supply chain planning, strategic sourcing, or supply chain analytics.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets.
- Experience conducting spend analysis, supplier analysis, demand forecasting, and inventory analysis.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas, data analysis tools).
- Experience with ERP systems such as Epicor, SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar is an asset.
