Position Summary

The Team Lead Process applies specialized Process Engineering skills for resolution of complex operational and technical issues, ensuring safe, efficient and reliable operation of the plant(s) and utilizes state of the art industry developments for improving plant performance and reliability.  The incumbent supports the Manager, Technical in overall department planning activities which include budgets, Responsible Care and other aspects of the company’s business where the skills are required, including the function as the Lead of Process Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Manages resource levels within the Process and Lab Team, to ensure that staff can effectively support company activities.
  • Ensure all Laboratory and Process Engineering Procedures are in place and maintained to effectively support company activity.
  • Initiates and leads the development of appropriate Plant Monitoring and Optimization Systems.
  • Continuously improve Process Engineering Systems and standardize work processes for the Process Engineers.
  • Provides Process Engineering expertise in the development of PCRs (Plant Change Requests) for projects within all degrees of complexity.
  • Identifies major CAPEX projects for sustained long term performance, debottlenecking opportunities and improved efficiency.
  • Participates in and leads incident investigation teams for determining root cause/troubleshooting of plant issues/problems.
  • Reviews and recommends changes to the plant “cause and effect matrix” to improve plant reliability and protect plant assets.
  • Prepares future production forecasts and improvements of production.
  • Has the ability to fully develop operating and Capital Expenditure Budgets for the Laboratory and Process Engineering group.
  • Supports the Business Planning Process and its execution to ensure the company maintains its competitive advantage in the industry.
  • Contributes to continuous improvement of the Responsible Care Management System that as a minimum meets the requirements of the the company's Corporate standard as well as the ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 standards.

 

Qualifications

•            B.Sc. Degree in Chemical and Process Engineering (or equivalent)

•            M.Sc. in related fields (or equivalent) will be an asset

 

Experience

•            More than seven (7+) years in Chemical and Process Engineering

•            Heat Exchanger Design and Optimization

•            Root Cause Analysis (TapRoot)

•            PHA Leader (Process Hazard Analysis)

•            Advanced Process Control is an asset

•            Quality Management Systems e.g. ISO 9000 and 14001

•            Environmental Management Systems
