Process Engineer

JOB SUMMARY: Lead and oversee process optimization initiatives, the development and implementation of new processes, and ensuring that all production activities meet established quality, safety, and environmental standards and to improve plant efficiency, reliability, and productivity.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Analyse and enhance existing production processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and maximize asset performance, ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic goals. 
• Manage the development, engineering, and execution of new processes or process improvements, from concept to completion, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery. 
• Offer advanced engineering solutions and recommendations for re-engineering, equipment upgrades, and troubleshooting complex process issues to maintain optimal plant operations. 
• Monitor production processes to guarantee adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Standard Operating Conditions and Limits (SOCLs), and relevant regulatory requirements, ensuring high-quality output and safe operations. 
• Mentor technical staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development. 
• Regularly assess plant processes, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions to enhance process reliability and efficiency. 
• Collaborate with the Operations Manager to develop and administer the department’s annual budget, providing expert recommendations on capital expenditure projects to drive long-term operational success. 
• Champion continuous improvement programs aimed at enhancing process performance, reducing waste, and optimizing resource utilization. 
• Develop detailed reports on process performance, project progress, and operational efficiency, presenting findings and recommendations to senior management. 
• Work closely with other departments, including Quality, HSSE, and Supply Chain, to ensure cohesive and efficient plant operations, supporting overall business objectives. 
• Oversee the tracking and analysis of raw materials and finished goods, providing timely and accurate data to the Warehouse/Stores department to maintain optimal inventory levels. 
• Perform any additional duties as required by the Operations Manager to ensure the smooth operation of the department and meet organizational targets. 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in process engineering within a manufacturing or industrial setting, with at least 3 years in a senior engineering role. 
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related field.  
• A Master’s Degree or advanced certification in Process Engineering is preferred.
• Experience in using computerized MS Office Suite. 
• Strong knowledge of process design, optimization, and troubleshooting; experience with process simulation software and Six Sigma methodologies is advantageous. 
• A track record of successfully managing complex engineering projects. 
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to a diverse audience. 
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions in high-pressure situations.
