Job Description:
- Formulate inks by Pantone chart or customer-approved sample using the correct ink type and document any changes to ink formulation.
- Check Ink/alcohol requisition, blend printing ink reducers, maintain inventory levels, and the accuracy of a colour, inform stakeholders of any changes and ensure that the ink is delivered to the relevant section.
- Liaise with Quality Control to establish colour targets for all jobs to be printed.
- Identify and formulate special colours from the schedule and ensure all ink pails are labelled accurately.
- Ensure all ink mixed matched is blended using the correct pigment and vehicle and a predetermined target is attainted.
- Update all stakeholders of any product, machine abnormalities or quality defects and identify and resolve any issues that arise during the printing process.
- Complete inspection of printing plates to determine if there are any damage, scratches, or any other defects.
- Ensure that printing plates are mounted onto printing cylinders or sleeves to ensure accuracy in alignment and registration of colours and graphics.
- Monitor the printing process to ensure that plates are properly aligned, and printing quality is maintained and remove used plates and store them according to establish procedures.
- Ensure all necessary approvals and documentation are in place to be compliant with respective operating procedures.
- Generate layouts for customer approvals.
- Keep accurate records of job orders, plate mounting, and maintenance activities.
- Perform general housekeeping, safeguard all tools and ensure all mounting equipment is cleaned and maintained.
- Assist with retrieving goods from the warehouse to deliver to the production area or external stakeholders.
- Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate ISO 9001:2000, quality, health, safety, security and environmental policies and procedures.
- Perform any other job duties as required by the job function.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Engineering Diploma from a recognized institution.
- Any Printing qualification would be an asset.
- None required.
- One (1) year in the manufacturing industry will be an asset.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent time management, planning and organization skills.
- Ability to articulate thoughts and express ideas clearly using oral, written, visual and non-verbal communication skills.
- Resilient and the ability to work effectively under pressure without becoming flustered.
- Ability to organize work so that tasks each to complete work on time, prioritize your projects and communicate your progress to supervisors and colleagues.
