Poultry Technical Field Representative II

Master Mix of Trinidad Unlimited (Master Mix Feeds), established in 1965, is a leading manufacturer of poultry and livestock feeds, servicing customers throughout Trinidad & Tobago. Master Mix is a subsidiary of Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM), headquartered in the USA. 

The Company is seeking to recruit an energetic, goal-oriented self-regulated individual for the post of Poultry Technical Field Representative II to join our Broiler Contract Growing Department. The person will report to the Farming Operations Coordinator.

 

The Role

  1. The job is a field based position to act as a liaison between Company and contract growers by providing expert technical advice to growers on company expectations (i.e. litter management, building and equipment specifications,  farm sanitation, industry best practices, policies, bio security, etc.).
  2. Communicate all unacceptable farm and/or flock conditions to management including recommendations given to grower on resolution and next steps including planned follow-up action to ensure farm/flock success.
  3. To interact with farmers to solve problems as well as building good working relationships
  4. To interact with the Poultry Surveillance Unit, the Vet Lab, and other veterinary service providers regarding diagnostic and disease prevention programs 
  5. To function within a collective team effort comprising the hatchery, feed mill, poultry sales department and accounts departments
  6. To make weekly visits and farm inspection reports
  7. To prepare and make timely electronic submissions of feed orders
  8. Deliver medication, vaccines and other material to farms when required
  9. To plan and schedule for the restocking of farm growing space
  10. To ensure farmers are compliant with the company’s programs and proper record keeping systems in accordance with the Company’s accounting procedures and timetable.
  11. To rationalize growout  results to determine mutual contractual continuity

Qualifications and Experience

  • BSc Degree in Agriculture from University of the West Indies (UWI) with selected courses in animal husbandry OR Diploma as obtained from Eastern Caribbean Institute of Agriculture and Forestry (ECIAF)
  • Ability to perform bird autopsy
  • Must be willing to perform duties consistently within poultry pens
  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel and Word

The Candidate must have:

  • A functional vehicle
  • Valid Driving Permit
  • The nature of the job requires flexibility and the candidate must be willing to travel to remote farming districts in Trinidad in order to fulfill the principal tasks and responsibilities
