Pouch Assistant

Assists the machine operator with preparing the machine for production 

Makes minor adjustments as required to maintain product specifications 

Follows established material handling procedures and instructions on work orders 

Completes quality control check sheet, and all production and waste reports at the end of the shift 

Checks pouch quality continuously during production 

Informs pouch operator of any defective material, maintenance issues and safety issues 

Prepares equipment and secondary packaging (boxes, pallets, labels, etc.) for production jobs based on production schedule 

Appropriately package and secure all jobs (boxes, pallets, shrink-wrapping, etc.) in a timely mannerin accordance with customer and freight requirements. 

Cleans and maintains equipment in preparation for next production run 

Makes recommendations to supervisor and management for improvement of production in terms of efficiency and workflow 

Makes packing cartons and carton labels as required by the work order 

Change rolls and cut out splices where necessary during production 

Move all finished goods from the production area to the packaging area 

Completes quality control checks and data entry during production  

Perform duties with adherence to the Company Health, Safety, Security and Quality procedures and practices 

Ensure that good housekeeping practices are maintained at all times. 

Any other related duties as assigned by management 

Three (3) CXC or GCE O’ Levels passes. 

Experience in a manufacturing environment.  

Knowledge of basic Mathematics, including addition and subtraction, metrics and conversion tables. 

Ability to use a guillotine and punch die  

Knowledge of equipment maintenance and equipment calibration. 

Ability to work accurately in a fast paced environment 

Good time management, verbal and written communication skills. 

Multi-tasking skills. 

Must be a team player. 

Must use initiative and be technically oriented 

Ability to work on a shift basis, weekends and overtime as required 

Ability to lift up to 50lbs. 

Bending, squatting, walking, and standing are a requirement for this position. 

Required to wear Personal Protection Equipment in a noisy and fast pace environment. 

Ability to work with a variety of inks and chemicals.
