Portfolio Marketing Manager
Main Purpose of Job:
The Portfolio Marketing Manager will drive the strategic direction, commercial performance, and brand equity of a multi-brand portfolio, translating business priorities into impactful marketing strategies. The role oversees innovation, pricing, positioning, and market expansion while guiding a team of Marketing Managers to deliver consistent brand-building and operational alignment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Portfolio Strategy & Brand Stewardship
- Define and drive the long-term strategy for a portfolio of brands, ensuring alignment with corporate vision, commercial objectives, and consumer trends.
- Lead strategic planning cycles including brand architecture reviews, positioning frameworks, and growth roadmaps.
- Identify whitespace opportunities, portfolio synergies, and innovation platforms to unlock incremental value.
- Own the strategic narrative of the portfolio at the Executive presenting insights, progress, and performance outlook.
2. Enterprise Leadership & Cross-Functional Alignment
- Serve as the strategic liaison between Marketing, Commercial, Innovation, Finance, and Supply Chain functions to ensure seamless go-to-market execution.
- Champion integrated business planning, cross-category collaboration, and organizational alignment behind priority initiatives.
- Influence senior stakeholders across departments to advance portfolio strategies and ensure cohesive execution.
3. Team Leadership & Capability Building
- Lead and inspire a high-performing team of Marketing Professionals across categories; foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and accountability.
- Develop and coach talent, ensuring succession planning, clear career pathways, and strong leadership continuity within the brand teams.
- Promote cross-brand collaboration, shared learning, and alignment on marketing best practices.
4. Financial & Commercial Ownership
- Lead strategic allocation of A&P and innovation investment across the portfolio to maximize ROI and market impact.
- Partner with Commercial to develop annual brand plans, business cases, and financial models to support growth ambitions.
- Monitor business performance and brand health metrics; proactively identify risks, opportunities, and course corrections.
5. Market Foresight & Consumer-Centric Innovation
- Serve as a portfolio visionary, applying market foresight and data intelligence to anticipate trends, mitigate threats, and identify growth platforms.
- Champion insight-led marketing with a strong consumer and cultural lens.
- Guide Marketing Managers through a structured innovation funnel balancing breakthrough innovation, range extensions, and demand-driving campaigns.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or related discipline; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of marketing experience, with at least 5 years in senior brand or portfolio leadership roles.
- Demonstrated success leading brand teams, driving strategic growth agendas, and partnering cross-functionally in a matrixed or multinational organization.
- Deep understanding of brand architecture, innovation pipelines, consumer segmentation, and commercial planning.
- Experience in FMCG, Beverage, or Consumer Packaged Goods industries is highly advantageous.
