Under the direct supervision of the Financial Controller, manages the preparation, processing, and distribution of monthly and fortnightly payroll. Responsible for payroll records, tax calculations, account balancing, and payroll reporting.

KEY OUTPUTS

  • Monthly and fortnightly salaries paid accurately and on time

  • Payroll taxes and statutory filings completed within required timelines

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Process payroll changes including new hires, terminations, and salary adjustments

  • Prepare and process monthly and fortnightly payroll

  • Calculate salaries, overtime, and statutory deductions

  • Ensure compliance with payroll laws, policies, and statutory requirements

  • Maintain accurate payroll records and files

  • Prepare statutory reports and filings (e.g. NIS, P24, P45)

  • Reconcile payroll taxes and salary expenditures

  • Collaborate with HR and auditors and resolve payroll queries

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS

Core

  • Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and attention to detail

  • Effective time management and teamwork skills

TECHNICAL

  • Knowledge of GOJ accounting and payroll procedures

  • Working knowledge of relevant laws and regulations

  • Experience with public sector payroll systems

PERFORMANCE CRITERIA

  • Timely and accurate payment of salaries and wages

  • Statutory taxes and returns submitted by due dates

  • Payroll records properly maintained with no audit issues

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • May be required to work outside normal hours

  • Occasional support at events

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or equivalent

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a public sector payroll unit
