Operations Manager

Reporting to the Managing Director the Operations Manager will have the overall responsibility for ensuring all operational activities are accounted for and optimized to meet the organization’s goals and are conducted to the required standards. The ideal candidate is open-minded, adaptable to change, performance driven and has a proven record of producing exceptional results. 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Plans, directs, oversees and co-ordinates all activities and operations of the organization to obtain maximum efficiency and economy of operations
  • Maximizes profits and satisfies customer requirements for products and/or services
  • Plan effective strategies for the financial well being of the company
  • Formulate templates and implement departmental and organizational policies and procedures to maximize output. Monitor adherence to rules, regulations and procedures.
  • Review and approve all operations – relevant risk assessments and participate in crisis review and alleviation as required
  • Streamline efficiencies and apply lean management principles to all processes
  • Identify and participate in continuous improvement objectives
  • Ensure that all employees have the required training for their area of expertise
  • Provide weekly management reports and monthly board reports
  • Ensure compliance with all safety standards and security measures
  • Ensure rejection, reprocessing, rework and return are managed in accordance with PQS procedures
  • Participate in annual product quality reviews
  • Creating and managing relationships with suppliers and service provider
  • Optimize equipment according to standard procedure, enhancing performance and product quality, ensuring the achievement of all Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)
  • Respond to emergency calls. (On Call)
    • Prepare the annual budget and forecasts and all Capital Expenditure proposals as well as ensuring compliance with legal standards. Manage the budget from identification to completion of projects

Key Competencies & Requirements

  • BSc in Operations Management, Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical Engineer
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration
  • Six (6) years’ experience in senior management role
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Proficient in the use of the computer & software applications - SAGE
  • Excellent analytical & problem-solving ability
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Flexible in accommodating extended working hours
  • Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise
  • Be knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory and stewardship processes
  • A hands-on “roll up one’s sleeves” approach to work
