The Medical Sales Representative is responsible for promoting and selling the Company's products and ensuring that the quality and consistency of service is maintained.

Core Duties:

 

Growth & Development of Client Relationship

  • Schedules appointments with doctors, pharmacists and hospital teams, which may include pre-arranged appointments or regular 'cold' calling, to present and sell the assigned range of Company products and services in accordance with the promotional guide.
  • ·         Works strategically to increase the awareness and use of the Company's pharmaceutical and medical products, making presentations to doctors, practice staff and nurses in surgeries, hospital doctors and pharmacists. Presentations may take place in medical practices or approved venues.
  • Builds and maintains positive working relationships with medical staff and other members of the decision making unit in support of providing good customer service.
  • Identifies and resolves client concerns related to the products or services of the Company in a timely manner, preparing reports, developing solutions and making recommendations to Management to maintain positive customer relationships.
  • Develops strategies for increasing opportunities to engage key contacts in the medical and healthcare sector, including key business people.

 

Analysis, Planning, Data Management & Reporting

  • Analyses sales reports provided by the Company and monitors achievement of set quotas, making appropriate action plans to ensure achievement of same.
  • Creates and maintains a current database of relevant customers which should include pertinent customer details as identified by the Company.
  • Periodically performs segmentation exercise on customer database as required by the

Company, utilising available in house data as well as by performing appropriate market inquiries.

  • Prepares action plans and route/plans/schedules to identify specific targets and to project the number of contacts to be made on a daily basis as well as required promotional activities on a weekly basis.
  • Keeps Management informed by submitting activity and results reports, such as daily call reports, weekly work plans, and monthly and annual territory analyses, which should account for customer visits, market intelligence and key achievements on the Trade.
  • Prepares and maintains account plans to include current and accurate account details including any tender, formulary and other access information important to the business.
  • Gathers trade and competitive information and provides feedback in the form of written reports to Management. Such information should include but is not limited to:

ü  New customer practices/institutions,

ü  Competitive activity/product launches, price changes etc. and

ü  Proposals and recommendations to the business strategy

  • Communicates new product and service opportunities, special developments, information or feedback gathered through field activity to appropriate Company staff.

 

Research & Knowledge Development

  • Seeks to achieve and maintain a high level of technical and product knowledge and keeps up-to-date with the latest product and therapy area information provided by the Company and other reliable approved sources in order to support the interpreting, presenting and discussing of product information with health professionals during presentations.
  • Performs market research as requested by Company.

 

Management of Marketing/Promotional Activity

  • Coordinates conferences and seminars for healthcare professionals in alignment with the Company’s marketing strategy.
  • Supports the Company in the planning, execution and monitoring of special events, for customers and related organisations.
  • Supports promotional activities related to assigned brands and suppliers.
  • Manages and accounts for assigned promotional budget and resources including samples, materials, equipment and services.
