Medical Sales Representative 

Job Summary

The Medical Sales Representative (non-pharmaceutical) supports the marketing plan and implements the sales plan of the Company to achieve the sales targets.  Under the direction of the Marketing & Sales Manager and/or the General Manager, the Medical Sales Representative gathers information on the market for medical equipment and supplies, participates in the promotional programs, and implements the tactics with the sales team to achieve the Company’s objectives of growth, sustainability and profitability.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Contribute to the development of the annual marketing and sales plans, including recognizing gaps in the industry and providing feedback, and recommending new lines based on potential in the trade.
  2. Implement the annual business plan to achieve sales goals, revenue and expense controls as defined by management, including promoting the Company’s presence in the market.
  3. Participate/contribute ideas and opinions in planning to meet sales forecasts and budgets for all lines, including medical and product knowledge development, and skills development.
  4. Ensure that policies and procedures are adhered to, including daily monitoring and weekly reporting.
  5. In collaboration with the Marketing & Sales Manager, plan and target the customer base identified to meet sales forecasts for all lines.
  6. Provide the required high standard of customer service in terms of preparing and presenting quotations, communicating with customers, assisting in promoting product to purchasing personnel and maintaining existing customer relationships.
  7. Assist and/or handle key accounts as designated by management, if and where applicable.
  8. Serve as point of contact for quotations, sales orders, deliveries, collections and customer product complaints.
  9. Prepare and submit weekly, monthly and quarterly reports, which shall include updates on sales activities, trade information (customer and competitor) and future prospects.
  10. Provide up to date competitor information in the market, including presence, promotional work, prices.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. A pleasant, assertive, calm and positive attitude in all situations.
  2. Ability to implement, monitor and report all activities, and when necessary, suggest, obtain approval and implement corrective action.
  3. Ability to collaborate with brand coordinators/managers and sales force.
  4. Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize multiple responsibilities.
  5. Ability to deal with customers, vendors and all channels of distribution.
  6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  7. Self motivated and ability to excel with minimum supervision.
  8. Ability to work well with customers and co-workers in a team environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 3-5 years relevant experience in the medical field, experience in hospital sales is an advantage.
  2. Must own a vehicle and possess a valid driver’s permit.
  3. Medical background, for example nursing, with practical experience in hospital setting.
