To direct and control mechanical engineering functions for the company’s plant and equipment so as to ensure that desired safety, reliability and integrity standards and specifications are established and maintained.

Responsibilities

  • To direct and control mechanical engineering functions for the company’s plant and equipment so as to ensure that desired safety, reliability and integrity standards and specifications are established and maintained.

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, and manufacturing machinery

  • Optimize the human, physical and capital resources required to achieve and sustain desired plant and equipment reliability levels.

  • Ensure engineering compliance with established statutory, industry and regulatory practices and procedures.       

  • Determine capital investment requirements to sustain desired reliability levels, develop relevant proposals, business cases and CAPEX documentation, implement and supervise approved projects.

  • Prepare engineering reports and studies required by the job function.

  • Supervise the implementation of engineering projects to ensure that established standards specifications and work targets are achieved.

  • Provide mechanical engineering support for all Operations functions as required.

  • Identify and monitor the work of external contractors to ensure compliance with specifications and contractual terms.

  • Ensure all mechanical systems comply with food safety standards and GMP. Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, equipment specifications, and engineering changes. Support audits and inspections and timely closure of actions.

  • Works with Projects team and OEMs to ensure all projects are successfully completed in a timely manner.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Projects, and other relevant software applications.

  • Ability to interpret and create Engineering Drawings.  

  • Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems)

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on innovative solutions.

  • Exceptional planning and organizational skills with keen attention to detail and effective time management.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with all levels of the organization and external stakeholders.

  • Team player with a commitment to honesty, reliability, and customer-focused service.

  • Ability to mentor and develop new recruits and team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

  • Adaptability and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Engineering.

  • Masters’ degree or Project Management Certification would be considered an asset.

  • Three to five years of experience within a continuous 24/7 manufacturing environment.

  • Will require occasional night, weekend and public holidays to support during maintenance and project work, shutdowns or emergencies.
