The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for maintaining, optimizing, and innovating mechanical systems and equipment within the beverage bottling facility.

The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for maintaining, optimizing and innovating mechanical systems and equipment within the beverage bottling facility. This role ensures high equipment reliability, production efficiency and compliance with safety and quality standards in a fast-paced, high-volume, environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

1. Equipment Maintenance and Reliability

  • Performance preventative and corrective maintenance on bottling line equipment such as rinsers, fillers, cappers, labellers, conveyors and packaging machines.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical failures and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime.
  • Monitor equipment performance and implement reliability-centered maintenance strategies.
2. Process Optimization
  • Analyze mechanical bottlenecks and inefficiencies in the production line.
  • Collaborate with production and quality teams to improve throughput, reduce waste, and ehance product quality.
  • Support continuous improvement inititatives using lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies. 
3. Engineering Projects and Upgrades
  • Lead or support capital projects including installation of new machinery, line expansions, and layout modifications.
  • Evaluate and recomend upgrades to improve energy efficiency, automation and mechanical performance.
  • Work with vendors and contractors to ensure timely and cost-effective project execution.
4. Compliance and Documentation
  • Ensure all mechanical systems comply with food safety standards, GMP and local regulations.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, equipment specifications, and engineering changes.
  • Support audits and inspections by technical documentation and insights.
5. Technical Support and Training
  • Provide on the floor technical support during production shifts.
  • Train maintenance technicians on equipment operation, basic troubleshooting, and safety protocols.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechnical Engineering or related field.
  • 3 + years of experience in a beverage or food manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, and packaging machinery.
  • Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems)
  • Proficiency in CAD software and mechanical design tools.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Work Environment: 
  • High-speed production facility with exposure to noise, moving machinery and temperature variations.
  • May require occasional weekend or night shifts during maintenance shutdowns or emergencies.
