Company Description 

Sonic Engineering Services Ltd provides specialized maintenance support services to the energy sector and is based in South Trinidad. For an upcoming project, we are seeking a Maintenance Support Technician, where rigging and working at height will be a major requirement. 

This is a project-based assignment; however, applicants will be considered for a longer-term role based on demonstrated capability, knowledge growth, and overall contribution to the company.

Position Summary 

The Maintenance Support Technician will be responsible for the execution of maintenance activities, ensuring all work is carried out efficiently, safely, and in full compliance with Sonic Engineering Services Ltd technical policies, procedures, and HSSE standards. The role also includes responsibility for assuring the quality of all work and activities performed. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Execute effective and timely maintenance of all relevant mechanical equipment 

• Carry out emergency response duties as required 

• Identify required consumables and spare parts, monitor stock levels, and ensure proper storage conditions 

• Ensure a safe place of work by full compliance with the Permit to Work (PTW) system and safe working procedures 

• Perform effective troubleshooting and resolution of problems affecting work operations 

• Read and interpret Technician Drawings and Layouts 

• Ensure full compliance with Sonic Engineering Services Ltd HSSE Policies and Procedures 

• Perform all other related job functions as required 

• Be comfortable working at height and in confined spaces 

• Working hours are usually 8am to 5pm, Mon -  Fri, however, applicant is required to be flexible with working hours due to emergency nature of some work.  

Skills & Experience (Key Consideration Factors) 

• Welding and fabrication 

• Rigging 

• Equipment operation, including: 

• Forklift 

• Manlift 

• Telescopic handler 

• Crane 

• Knowledge of mechanical repairs, including: 

• Petrol and diesel engines 

• Gearboxes 

• Compressors 

• Cranes 

• Hydraulic systems 

• Familiarity with computer applications such as MS Word, MS Excel, Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software, and CNC systems 

• Excellent troubleshooting and operational knowledge 

• Age group :24 to 32 

Qualifications and requirements 

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET), Electrical & Electronics Engineering Technology (EEET), or Instrumentation, or equivalent certification in a related field 

• Valid PLEA Card 

• 7-point drug test and fit-to-work certification 

• Minimum of three (3) years industrial working experience 

• Strong communication skills and a self-motivated team player 

• Valid Certificate of Good Character (not older than 6 months) 

• 2 character references from previous employer  

• Resident within 15km of La Brea and Aripero will be given preference
