Maintenance Lead Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated, hands-on Maintenance Lead with strong execution and task ownership skills to join our Facilities team. This role requires a proactive, solution-driven individual who is comfortable working across various trades and building systems. The Maintenance Lead will be primarily responsible for carrying out property and office maintenance tasks, responding to emergencies, and ensuring critical building services are operational and serviced. This is a field-heavy, physical role that requires someone who gets things done, often under tight timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Hands-on Execution: Lead by doing—complete daily maintenance tasks efficiently and thoroughly. This includes:
  • Office repairs (doors, locks, fixtures, furniture)
  • Drywall patching and repair
  • Ceiling tile replacement
  • Minor HVAC circulation system cleaning and maintenance
  • General plumbing and light electrical work
  • Changing or ceiling or floor tiles or carpeting
  • Fix plumbing leaks
  • Painting of walls
  • Ensure grounds and property lines are maintained
  • Emergency Response: Be on-call to respond to building emergencies 24/7 as scheduled; respond quickly to urgent maintenance needs (e.g., water leaks, power outages, equipment failure).
  • Critical Systems Oversight:
  • Ensure building generators, HVAC, fire alarms, and other essential systems are operating within vendor service contracts and schedules.
  • Liaise with vendors during scheduled servicing or emergency repairs; follow up to verify completion and performance.
  • Physical Work: Lift and move heavy items, equipment, or furniture as required.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with maintenance coordinators, facilities team members, and security personnel to ensure smooth operations of the property and safe conditions for all occupants.
  • Site Inspections: Conduct routine walk-throughs of the property to identify and report maintenance needs before they become critical issues and actively work to address them.
  • Travel: May be required to travel locally between sites based on business needs.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in commercial building or property maintenance (3–5+ years preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of building systems and maintenance tasks (basic HVAC, electrical, plumbing, drywall, etc.)
  • Ability to lead by example and ensure work gets done to high quality and safety standards
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and work on feet for extended periods
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Comfortable working in emergency or high-pressure situations
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
  • Willingness to be on-call, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • OSHA certification or other relevant safety training
  • Familiarity with CMMS or work order management software
  • Trade certification (e.g., HVAC, electrical) a plus
  • Supervisory Management certification

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, takes initiative, and has a deep sense of ownership over the spaces they maintain. If you’re someone who doesn’t just point out problems—but solves them—this role is for you.
