Maintain, repairiand evaluate electrical/electronic systems on all of the Terminal’s Heavy-duty Container Handling Equipment

JOB PURPOSE

Responsibility for maintaining, repairing and evaluating electrical/electronic systems on all of the Terminal’s Heavy-duty Container Handling Equipment. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES, INCLUDE:

  • Execute preventative and corrective maintenance procedures and schedules in conformance with engineering standards and codes and the relevant statutory regulations
  • Effect repairs on electrical and electronic circuits, digital drive and control systems, programmable logic controllers and electrical component elements. This includes the modification of components and servicing techniques under the guidance of the Supervisor to improve efficiency
  • Test equipment to ensure compliance with specifications and safety standards and identify components to be overhauled
  • Service, repair, deploy, remove and stow away equipment as required
  • Align pump/motor/gearbox/generator systems
  • Adhere to preventative and corrective maintenance procedures and schedules in conformance with engineering standards and codes and the relevant statutory regulations
  • Complete PM check sheets accurately and in a timely manner and submits to supervisor
  • Participate in the analysis/research of the performance of electrical systems and other components and recommends modifications where necessary to improve efficiency
  • Comply with all disaster contingency plans
  • Participate in exercises to secure all equipment inclusive of cranes, straddle carriers, trucks, chassis, terminal vehicles and light pylons in the event of an impending natural disasters such as hurricanes or storms
  • Provide on-the-job guidance to new recruits

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & KEY COMPETENCIES

  • Diploma in Electrical, Installation & Maintenance from a recognized institution
  • At least two (2) years’ experience in maintenance and repair activities and evaluations for relevant equipment and machinery
  • Successful completion of the Company’s Junior Maintenance Technician’s programme
  • Sound knowledge of relevant electronic engineering systems which include electrical circuits, PLC and fault diagnostics systems. Knowledge of combustion / diesel engines and power transmission hydraulic would be an asset.
  • Experience working with PLC systems. Experience with diesel engine maintenance would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of engineering safety practices
  • Working knowledge of techniques and methods employed in the maintenance of equipment and machines on the Terminal, including Straddle Carriers, road heads, forklift trucks, trailers and other associated equipment
  • Skillful in preparing and interpreting technical drawing/sketches
  • Sound judgment, problem solving and analysis
  • Teamwork, collaboration and communication
  • Valid General Driver’s Licence
