Our client, a well-established café and food service business, is seeking a skilled and motivated Line Chef to join its culinary team

Job overview 

The role of a Line Chef is crucial in maintaining the high quality of food to our
customers and providing wonderful dining experiences, it requires diligence, dedication and
dynamism. The Line Chef is responsible for preparing and plating meals from the menu according to
company standard.
Key responsibilities
● Follow all food and kitchen safety protocols
● Prep menu items as per recipe
● Record wastage from prepped and cooked items in the logbook provided or communicate
to the kitchen supervisor.
● Stock prep and workstations with supplies for daily service
● Assist team members to execute menu items as per recipe in a timely manner
● Clean prep and workstations and properly store leftovers.
● Use creativity to develop specials
● Label and date prepped items being stored
● Assist with maintenance of tools and equipment
● Maintain and clean storage shelves and refrigerators
● Ensure that adequate stock levels are present, and communicate to the kitchen supervisor
BEFORE they run out
● Any other tasks/duties assigned by supervisor/operations manager.
● Communicate to the kitchen supervisor whenever an inventory delivery is made, either
in-person or in the available whatsapp group.
Qualifications

• Must have an up-to-date food handlers’ permit
• Previous experience as a Line Chef or in a similar role in a restaurant or culinary setting.
• Knowledge of various cooking techniques, kitchen equipment, and food safety practices.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain composure under pressure.
• Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
