Island Grill is seeking a strategic and results-driven Learning & Development Manager to lead our organisation-wide capability development agenda.

This role is central to building a high-performance learning culture that strengthens leadership capability, enhances employee performance, and supports sustainable business growth. Partnering closely with senior leadership, you will design and deliver learning strategies that align with business priorities, build critical capabilities, and embed a culture of continuous improvement across the organisation. About the Role:

Reporting to the Head of HR, the Learning & Development Manager will establish and embed a structured learning model where subject matter experts define content, the L&D function designs and enables capability-building solutions, and business leaders take accountability for driving application, reinforcement, and sustained behavioural change in day-to-day operations.

Key Functions

  • Develop and implement a scalable Learning & Development (L&D) strategy that drives capability building, employee performance, and alignment to business objectives
  • Partner with Restaurant Operations and functional leaders to identify learning needs and translate them into targeted, impactful programmes
  • Lead and manage the L&D team, ensuring consistent delivery, quality, and continuous improvement of learning initiatives
  • Design and implement leadership development initiatives and support succession and career development programmes`      
  • Identify, implement and manage a Learning Management System (LMS) to support structured, trackable learning  initiatives
  • Conduct training needs analysis and evaluate programme effectiveness using data, feedback, and performance metrics
  • Develop and implement blended learning solutions, including eLearning, virtual, and instructor-led training
  • Embed organisational values and desired behaviours through structured learning and culture-building initiatives
  • Monitor and report on L&D performance metrics, providing insights to support decision-making and continuous improvement
  • Coach and develop team capability, ensuring strong execution and alignment to organisational standards

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a strong background in Learning & Development, Organisational Development, or a related HR discipline
  • Has proven experience designing and delivering L&D strategies aligned to business objectives
  • Has experience leading and developing high-performing teams
  • Is skilled in training needs analysis and translating insights into effective learning solutions
  • Has a strong understanding of leadership development, succession planning, and capability frameworks
  • Has experience implementing and managing Learning Management Systems (LMS) or similar platforms
  • Can design and deliver blended learning solutions (eLearning, virtual, and instructor-led)
  • Has strong analytical ability to evaluate learning impact using data and metrics
  • Possesses excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Can influence at all levels and drive a culture of continuous learning and performance improvement
  • Is highly organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrates strong alignment to organisational values and a passion for building capability and performance culture

Qualifications & Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Business, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5–7 years’ experience in Learning & Development, with a track record of designing and implementing initiatives that drive business performance.
  • Experience partnering with business leaders to identify capability gaps and translate them into practical learning solutions.
  • Experience in digital learning and instructional design, including blended learning approaches.
  • Experience evaluating learning effectiveness and linking learning outcomes to business performance.
  • Experience working with or implementing Learning Management Systems (LMS) or similar platforms.
  • Relevant Learning & Development, Adult Learning, or Instructional Design certification is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
