Job Summary

The Junior Accountant Trainee contributes toward the efficient and effective workings of the Finance Department by executing daily tasks with a strong attention to detail and assimilation of information. This role will include the preparation of schedules and journals to assist in the preparation of the financial statements and statutory returns as well as assisting in the day to day functions of the department

Job Responsibilities

  1. Payment and Receipt Processing
  • Recording and processing payments
  • Receipting and rollover of Investments
  1. Audit and Reporting
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly compliance report
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts and associated duties.
  • Prepare Audit schedules and assisting with auditor’s queries.
  1. Reconciliation
  • Verify and clear items on the intercompany reconciliation.
  • Preparation and Clearing of Bank Recs
  • Prepare CPC & Tax Reconciliation.
  • Prepare Intercompany Reconciliations and confirm balances for month end reporting.
  • Enter and prepare monthly journals including Intercompany reconciliations and confirm balances for month end reporting.
  1. VAT & Exchange Rate Processing
  • Prepare monthly VAT and withholding tax for specific islands.
  • Prepare and submit exchange rates.
  1. To perform any other job related duties as assigned by the VP- Finance.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Meet deadlines in challenging timeframes.
  • Intermediate level of Microsoft office suite
  • Ability to work in a highly demanding environment with tight deadlines requiring frequent multitasking
  • Demonstrated organizational, problem solving, analytical and time management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Suite – Office, Excel, Word and Access
  • Strong documentation, presentation and communication skills
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse groups
  • Ability to work effectively in cross- functional (technical) teams
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing financial information
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality concerning financial transactions
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time gathering, updating, and validating accounting transactions
  • Sound knowledge of WEBSTER.
  • Sound   understanding   of   the   General Insurance Cycle.
  • Sound knowledge of Accounting Principles
  • Effective decision making
  • Ability to use data to make sound decisions.
  • Ability to influence others
  • Understanding of organizational culture and other people factors

Job Requirements

  • Completed Level 1 ACCA and pursuing Level 2.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in an Accounting environment or in a similar capacity.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in customer service or related environment
  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience preparing account reconciliations on high volume accounts
  • Desirable but not essential
    • AML Compliance Certificate
    • Working in changing environments.
