The Duty Manager is responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring employee productivity, monitoring efficiency of all processes, and creating a positive work environment for employees.

Job Description

  • Ensure all guests are treated in an efficient and courteous manner and that all company standards are applied. 
  • While on duty in the front office ensure all front office quality standards, policies and procedures are consistently applied.
  • Supervise the activities and the service levels of the concierge and the front desk.
  • While on duty in housekeeping ensure all house quality standards, policies and procedures are consistently applied. Assist in the daily room inspections to achieve optimal levels of cleanliness and maintenance to sustain high levels of guest satisfaction. Create work orders and communicate with relevant departments to ensure the repairs are made in a timely manner.
  • Inspect to ensure that all safety, sanitation, energy management, preventive maintenance and other standards are consistently met.
  • Coordinate activities with other hotel departments in order to facilitate increased levels of communication and guest satisfaction.
    • Accounts – Guest Folios
    • Reservations – Room allocations and Special Requests/Comments
    • Maintenance - Room repairs
  • Provide ongoing training and support to front desk supervisors and agents.
  • Responsible for assisting in the maintaining of operational inventories of the housekeeping and front office departments.
  • Responsible for sales to guests through the front desk and any action taken by the incumbent that can impact on volume of business.
  • Responsible for direct link between effort expended and decisions made, and revenue generated by front office.
  • Give direction and be responsible for the implementation of plans. Monitor plans effectiveness and introduce changes including setting targets, planning and scheduling work and performance indicators that are typically productivity and efficiency measures.
  • Responsible for promoting the product and services to the targeted customer/guest group. Able to make changes that respond to the marketplace and to guest needs, both present and anticipated. Recommend changes to the product services.
  • Review new techniques for food preparation and presentation in a manner and variety to maximize member and guests’ satisfaction and to minimize food costs.
  • Consult with the chef and other applicable club administrators daily to help assure the highest level of member satisfaction at minimum cost.
  • Develop on-going professional development and training programs for food production, and service and bar production/service personnel.
  • Address member and guest complaints and advise the General Manager about appropriate corrective actions taken
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • B.A. in Business Administration or Hospitality
  • 4-8 years’ management experience in the hospitality industry.
  • Ability to follow policies and procedures.
  • Ability to operate a POS (Point of Sale system), fax, copier, computer/printer, and telephone.
  • Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrate good listening skills.
  • Demonstrate good organizational and management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a stressful environment.
  • Ability to identify with “front house” and “back house” issues and resolve them in a timely manner.
