Job description:

Primary objective of the job: 

Lead and manage the organization's IP network infrastructure, ensuring its efficient and secure operation. The role focuses on maintaining a robust and scalable network that supports the company's communication services and meets the needs of its customers and of the company, such as timeliness, budget adherence, and adherence to defined scope and quality standards. This involves managing IP addressing and subnetting, implementing network security measures, monitoring network performance, troubleshooting issues, planning network expansions, collaborating with vendors, and documenting network configurations.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • IP Systems Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive IP systems strategy aligned with the company's overall business objectives. Ensure the IP systems strategy supports scalability, reliability, and security requirements to meet current and future customer demands.
  • Network Infrastructure Management: Design, implement, maintain the IP network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and other network devices. Ensuring the network is optimized for performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Network Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Monitor the IP network for performance, availability, and quality of service. Identifying and resolving network issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions. You will use network monitoring tools to ensure optimal network performance and minimize downtime.
  • Resource Management: Efficiently managing and optimizing the allocation and utilization of resources, including personnel, budget, equipment, and technology tools, to achieve project objectives.
  • Quality and Risk Management: Identifying and managing risks and issues that may impact IP network. Developing mitigation strategies, implementing contingency plans, and proactively addressing any challenges to minimize project disruptions.
  • Team Leadership and Collaboration: Building and leading a high-performing technology team. Providing guidance, support, and mentorship to team members, fostering collaboration, and creating a positive work environment.
  • Lead the strategic planning and execution of the IP networking, ensuring its design meet performance, quality, and budget requirements.
  • Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities, monitoring, and optimizing the deliverables, while implementing mitigation strategies to minimize projects disruptions.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to the technology team, fosters collaboration with cross-functional teams, and optimizes technology resources and costs to deliver high-quality technology services.

 

Academic Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in IP systems within the telecommunications industry or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in designing, implementing, and managing IP networks in large-scale environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of network protocols, including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and VLANs.
  • Proficiency in network equipment configuration and management, such as Cisco routers and switches.
  • Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices.
  • Leadership experience, including managing and developing technical teams.
  • Industry certifications, such as CCIE or JNCIE, are highly desirable

 

Functional Skills:

  • Expertise in network design, architecture, and optimization for IP networks.
  • Proficiency in network protocols and technologies, routing protocols, and network troubleshooting.
  • Strong knowledge of network security concepts and technologies.
  • Project management skills, including the ability to plan, execute, and deliver network projects.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills in complex network environments.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with stakeholders at all levels.

 

Financial Responsibility:

  • Participate in budget planning for the IP network infrastructure, including equipment procurement and maintenance.
  • Optimize network resources and costs while ensuring high-quality network services.
