Primary objective of the job: 



As Group Accountant, you will be responsible for all IFRS reporting processes including, but not limited to, IFRS 9, 15 and 16 as well as other technical accounting areas for the Group and all subsidiaries. This entails ensuring that monthly, quarterly and annual internal and external reporting is completed accurately and in a timely manner. You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of data held within the Lease Management System and calculations performed by the Billing System. You will liaise with market finance teams to obtain relevant financial information in order to calculate accurate end of period entries. A continuous improvement mindset, keen eye for detail, together with strong Excel and system skills is essential.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Coach and empower team members to take accountability for their duties, and provide them with direction
  • Liaise with market finance and technical teams to obtain relevant financial information which drives calculations
  • Review and manage data within the Lease Management System, ensuring accuracy and completeness, with discrepancies resolved with relevant stakeholders in a timely manner
  • Work with Shared Service Centre and Debtors reporting team to ensure accuracy and quality of reporting to aid IFRS 9 calculations and compliance
  • Review calculations performed by Billing System to ensure compliance with IFRS 15
  • Monthly, quarterly and annual reporting prepared accurately and in a timely manner
  • Prepare analytical reviews and provide commentary where necessary
  • Improve efficiency and accuracy of existing processes and, where necessary, create new processes
  • Provide feedback and training to markets/SSC to ensure alignment with Group policies and IFRS across all markets

 

Academic qualifications and experience required:

 

  • ACA/ACCA
  • 2-3 years PQE minimum
  • Reporting and accounting systems HFM/SAP/Oracle/Workday
  • Prior experience owning a financial reporting process in a large, multi-currency organisation
  • IFRS 16, 15 and/or 9 experience is advantageous, but training will be provided

 

Functional Skills:

 

  • Prior experience in a multi-location accounting environment preferred
  • Strong understanding of financial processes, accounting, and reporting
  • Concrete knowledge of IFRS
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and systems skills
  • Methodical and detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Able to grasp new concepts quickly
  • Applies healthy scepticism and unafraid to challenge information received
  • Good oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with all levels of internal and external stakeholders
  • A true team player who is eager to help the team and wider business achieve their targets
  • Strong sense of urgency, proven ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
