We are in search of a Laundry Manager to lead the Laundry Department in providing quality service, carrying out the laundering, registration and control of linens for rooms, restaurants and distribution areas according to the necessary specifications in each case in the shortest possible time.

 

We are in search of a Laundry Manager to join our Operations Committee to lead the Laundry Department in providing quality service, carrying out the laundering, registration and control of linens for rooms, restaurants and distribution áreas according to the necessary specifications in each case in the shortest possible time.

 

Summary of Duties & Responsibilities:
 
  • Contribute ideas for viable projects in terms of savings to follow the line of sustainability.
  • Support in various activities when required (washing, ironing, folding, etc.) Inform your team members on any pending issues at the beginning of every shift.
  • Assign tasks (washers, laundry assistants, etc.)
  • Attend meetings organized by the General Manager.
  • Authorize purchase orders for materials for your department.
  • Authorize permits, vacations, leaves, absence, according to the needs of operation in the department.
  • Calculate production expenses, both in guest linens and towels.
  • Train new staff.
  • Coordinate your staff.
  • Coordinate inventories in the laundry department.
  • Prepare for any charges to guests and deliver it to the Front Desk.
  • Prepare inventory.
  • Develop roll of time-off.
  • Establish training programs.
  • Establish preventive maintenance programs for laundry equipment in coordination with maintenance management.
  • Objectively evaluate employees according to their performance.
  • Provide training courses.
  • Report failures or breakdowns in laundry equipment to the maintenance department.
  • Keep the work area in perfect order and cleanliness.
  • Maintain close communication with employees and the areas involved. (departmental heads).
  • Keep track of the pending issues assigned by your immediate supervisor.
  • Conduct technical interviews with candidates to fill the vacancies of the department.
  • Perform requests of purchases of chemical products used in the department.
  • Supervise the execution of corrective and/or preventive maintenance programs on the machinery used in your department.
  • Supervise the entry and exits of clothing, according to the established procedures.
  • Supervise processes and adequate control of all areas concerning laundry.  
  • Inform Human Resource Department on the team members who does not comply with the rules and regulations of the company.
  • Verify all pending logs, and follow-up.
  • Verify the correct operation is being carried out with the laundry equipment (washing machine, dryer, mangles, towel benders and sheets).
  • Verify that the team members comply with the process of washing whites and hotel clothes (sheets, towels, curtains, bedspreads, tablecloths, etc.).

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE 
 
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, hotel management.
  • Textile engineering.
  • 3 to 5 years of working in laundry of hotels of the same category and size.
  • Knowledge of general laundry procedures; washing and drying techniques; operation of washing machines, dryers, mangles, towel, and sheet folds; turning alarms on and off. 
  • Management of industrial equipment of 5-star hotel laundries.
  • Equipment management.
  • Must be computer literate.
