Production Manager, Abel Building Solutions

Job Summary: 

The Production Manager ensures that production targets are achieved while maintaining proper product quality standards and ensuring that this is done safely. In addition, the position must work closely with all departments to achieve departmental objectives.

Job Description:

• Manage production supervisors and production staff to ensure all targets are met.
• Monitor key process parameters, daily log sheets, production output to ensure they are correct and/or within agreed limits.
• Develop, lead, and implement innovative strategies to reduce waste and improve efficiencies and effectiveness of the Production Department with respect to process, systems and people management.
• Manage the operation of equipment to optimize plant quality. This would involve liaising with the maintenance team to ensure the required work is planned and scheduled as needed.
• Perform all required transactions on D365 as it relates to product output and raw material usage. Production variances are to be tracked, monitored, and reported/explained as needed.
• Liaise with the stores/procurement functions to ensure spare parts for extruder die and related equipment are available as needed to maintain efficient operation and product quality.
• Ensure that safety practices, policies and procedures are maintained and adhered to by production staff and take the necessary disciplinary actions for any breaches that may arise.
• Monitor and report on staff performance and absenteeism levels and ensure necessary disciplinary actions are carried out.
• Report on department’s achievement as per reporting requirements including risks and mitigations for achieving set targets.
• Assist with monthly/annual budgeting and expense planning as well as with strategic planning.
• Participate in the development and implementation of and perform all duties in accordance with the procedures as per ISO 9001:2000 standards and the Company’s Quality Systems Manual.
• Participate in Training and Development activities as required from time to time.
• Compliance with Ansa McAL Group Policies.
• Any other relevant duties as assigned by your management line to ensure the effective operation of the department.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Undergraduate Degree/ BSc in Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in manufacturing environment, with supervisory experience.
• Intermediate experience in Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Excellent teamwork skills, strong interpersonal skills, problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to multi-task, set priorities and meet strict deadlines.
• Demonstrate a sense of orderliness and cleanliness regarding equipment.
