POSITION PURPOSE:

The Internal Auditor will work closely with the CFO, CEO and Board of Directors to set and oversee the full audit cycle and develop auditing strategies. He/she will also work closely with the respective managers and/ or supervisors to create solutions to make departmental processes more effective. The incumbent is to ensure that the controls and procedures which inform financial, operating and informative systems are in place at Ferreira Optical Limited and are being followed and adhered to.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Work alongside CFO and directors, or assigned representative to develop, execute and manage an Internal Audit program and framework for Ferreira Optical Limited.
  • As directed, undertakes random checks to test the validity of existing financial and operations systems and procedures.
  • Effects surveillance of paper transactions and/ or electronic documents to identify appropriateness and reliability of financial accounting processes.
  • Ensure that all staff have a thorough understanding of audit steps and preparing work paper documentation.
  • As directed, undertakes random checks of company systems and procedures.
  • Reports on infractions to accepted accounting principles and procedures.
  • Reports on areas of weakness in specified operating and financial practices.
  • Research applicable laws and regulations to ensure the Company’s compliance.
  • Acts as an objective source of independent advice to ensure validity, legality, and goal achievement.
  • Identifies loopholes and share risk aversion methods and cost savings.
  • Provides day-to-day support to Management on related matters.
  • Be a role model displaying and encouraging a high degree of ownership of the company’s values, vision, and operational initiatives.
  • Where necessary participate in corporate policy or procedural developments.
  • Maintain a harmonious relationship with the management, colleagues, and clients to contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the company.
  • Remain up to date on accounting and finance best practices and relevant laws regarding accounting and audit operations.
  • Protect organizational values by keeping information confidential.
  • Develop positive relationships with peers.
  • Other related duties as may be required from time to time.

 

Education and Job Experience:

  • Pursuing ACCA, minimum completion of at least Level 2 which must include successful completion of Audit modules within completed levels.
  • Pursuing CIA will be considered an asset.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Accounting or Auditing
  • Demonstrated understanding and competence in completing audit engagements.
  • Any other suitable combination of qualifications and experience may be considered.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of auditing standards, procedures, laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Advanced computer skills and working knowledge of auditing software.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Demonstrate commitment to ongoing learning and development by initiating and completing self-study opportunities.
  • Strong report writing and technical writing skills.
  • Sound knowledge of Company’s operational systems
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers and all levels of staff with a high level of professionalism.

  • Extensive experience re: computerized accounting systems
  • Highly proficient Microsoft Office user
  • Sound Administrative competencies
  • Ability to assimilate data into meaningful financial information.
  • Strong spreadsheet manipulation skills and aptitude working in Microsoft Excel.
  • Good report development and presentation skills and the ability to develop and improve report formats in line with business and client needs.
  • Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
