Job Title: Group Safety Health Environment Quality Coordinator

 

 

Primary objective of the job: 

 

The Safety Health Environment and Quality Coordinator would assist in the development of safety policies and procedures, the investigation and identification of risks, the recommendation and implementation of solutions to current safety issues, and the assessment of safety documentation. Additional roles include enforcing regulations and laws, ensuring that the company adheres to regulatory requirements and writing safety guidelines so that each employee is aware of them. The Safety Health Environment and Quality Coordinator would create safety manuals, develop training classes, and, if necessary, keep track of business and regulatory logs. Other duties include organizing team meetings as needed, completing audits and inspections on a regular basis, and assisting with workers’ comp claims.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development of safety policies and procedures, the investigation and identification of risks, the recommendation and implementation of solutions to current safety issues, and the assessment of safety documentation
  • Create safety manuals, develop training classes, and, if necessary, keep track of business and regulatory logs
  • Ensure up to date records and logs within the management system
  • Support and manage safety programs for staff and contractors
  • Organize team meetings as needed, complete audits and inspections on a regular basis, and assist with Property damage and loss claims
  • Prepare Dashboard Reports from Projects and BAU operations as needed
  • Assist with the development of best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce employee/contractors risk, raise safety awareness, and improve the company safety culture
  • Conduct risk assessments, identify hazards, and lead the development of method statements and risk assessments
  • Support the Manager with the implementation and monitoring of Digicel’s Safety Management System
  • Administration and management of the Health and Safety Management Inbox, Accident forms; referrals and general queries sent, redirect queries to members of the health and safety team as needed
  • Report and investigate accidents, incidents, property damage loss and liability claims forms, update spreadsheets, and follow up actions as required
  • Administrator of the SHEQ SMS and any other digital operating space the department operates in
  • Leads the internal and external safety training programs ensuring internal compliance with federal regulations and Digicel’s Policy
  • Takes delivery of all Sub-contractor Safety Policies, Method Statements and Risk Assessments, and thoroughly checks them before allowing any works to start on site.Continual checks should be made, and changes made, should any part of the operations vary from the original documentation
  • Oversee independent contractors, ensuring compliance with policies and practices
  • Ensure to keep up to date records and properly store according to company regulations
  • Conduct inspections of the site, and ensure that all working practices are being conducted and all inspections are recorded
  • Submit weekly safety and quality reports to SHEQ Group Manager
  • Organize and chairs Quality and Safety meetings
  • Assist the operators in carrying out the statutory equipment inspections, and record those inspections as required to comply with current legislation
  • Establish an annual calendar for safety checks of all programs. Use approved tool to conduct annual safety checks of programs and operations and reports to the SHEQ Manager
  • Perform of other duties as assigned by management.
  • Understand and comply with the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and other industry-specific professional and ethical conduct standards, if applicable

Academic Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • BS Diploma-NEBOSH / IOSH or any other industry safety accreditations
  • A minimum of two (2) years safety and/or risk management experience or related field required.
  • Telecommunication (Mobile, Cabling, Splicing and Civils) experience preferred

 

Functional Skills:

  • Proficiently in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to document
  • Ability to successfully lead staff/contractors through outcome-based projects
  • A positive attitude and good work ethic
  • Excellent communication skills and multi-tasker
  • Excellent critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Have a valid driver's license
  • Ability to endure long periods of standing, walking, and able to lift up to 70 pounds at a time
