General Counsel – International Compliance

The Trinidad and Tobago Revenue Authority is seeking qualified and competent candidates for the Permanent position of General Counsel – International Compliance.

The General Counsel - International Compliance is an executive leader of the Corporate Services Division in the Trinidad and Tobago Revenue Authority and will report directly to the Director General. The incumbent is required to provide leadership to staff members of the International Compliance Department, and serve as advisor to the Director General on initiatives that drive Common Reporting Standards and policies related to international compliance to ensure that the Authority’s KPIs are attained.

The suitable candidate will have ten (10) years’ experience, including at least five (5) years at senior managerial level in legal practice or a regulatory environment. The candidate will also be required to have experience in implementing cross-border tax and/or custom policies along with demonstrated knowledge of international trade regulations and laws or cross border transactions and common reporting standards.  Familiarity with Tax, Customs and Excise Laws, administrative rulings and tariff structures of Trinidad and Tobago would be an asset.

Candidates must have a Master of Laws (LLM) from a recognised institution, be eligible to practice law in Trinidad and Tobago and must be a financial member of the T&T Law Association. Membership with the International Compliance Association or related entity would be desirable. Consideration will be given to any other equivalent combination of education and experience.
