Job Title: OSP Fibre Coordinator

 

Primary Objectives of the job:

  • The OSP Fibre Coordinator will have the responsibility to ensure that ADD FATs and MDU/MBU surveys, design, construction, quality control and the release to sales are completed to the company standard in a safe and timely manner through the appropriate direction and supervision of the process. The coordinator will also be required to coordinate with the OSP engineers on the engineering, construction, maintenance, installation, and commissioning of the company’s fibre optic network and related services.

 

  • This Position requires strong tracking and reporting skills, communication and organizational skills, the ability to multi-task, problem-solve and the ability to work well with a team as well as independently. FTTH Telecommunication industry experience is a plus.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily status reports on the FTTH ADD FATS and MDU/MBU builds. This includes updates on surveys, designs, construction, quality control, and release to sales.
  • Ensure timely completion of all build activities and/or proper notification of delays.
  • Manage assigned projects and program components to deliver services in accordance with established objectives.
  • Perform Site Surveys as requested
  • Interaction with Customers and Sales Team
  • Determine construction methods as in aerial, underground and use of existing conduits
  • Construction and splicing supervision
  • Maintaining OSP material inventory
  • Expect to access both overhead and underground network infrastructure.
  • Monitor, complete and clear fault tickets as needed
  • Expect to perform testing of fibres utilizing OTDR, Power Meter, and various other testing equipment
  • Performs and/or manages special projects as assigned.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as necessary
  • Maintain safe working habits and conditions according to regulations and policies of the company

 

Academic qualifications and experience required:

  • A first degree (ASc., BSc.) or equivalent qualification in Electrical, Electronics, or Engineering
  • 2-3 years of experience with OSP underground and aerial telecommunication engineering
  • Ability to work independently, in a team environment, and work on multiple projects simultaneously
  •  Experience in both buried, direct buried and overhead cabling methods 
  • Knowledge of the standards, materials, techniques and equipment used in the installation, maintenance, and repair of OSP fiber optic facilities
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and meet the company’s insurance carrier’s criteria for coverage under the company’s insurance policy
  • Ability to drive manual transmission vehicle
