JOB SUMMARY

The Inventory Control Assistant collaborates with internal stakeholders to ensure the integrity and accuracy of physical inventory through rigorous auditing, compliance with standard operating procedures, and strategic oversight of inventory control processes. This role is key to maintaining inventory accuracy, addressing discrepancies, and upholding operational compliance. 

Key Responsibilities

    • Ensure execution of all planned/scheduled inventory auditing processes i.e. perpetual/cycle counts, biannual and annual stock counts, and ad hoc counts as needed.
    • Ensure all stock counting activities are documented and reconciled to maintain an inventory accuracy.
    • Assist with investigations for all inventory variances and discrepancies, performing root cause analyses and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
    • Collaborate with the Inventory Accounting Team on discrepancies identified in financial reconciliations, supporting appropriate adjustments, activities and disclosures for accounting accuracy.
    • Support the Inventory Accounting Team during internal and external audits by supplying necessary documentation, reconciliations, and inventory reports.
    • Ensure adherence to SOPs related to receiving, storage, product rotation (First Expiry, First Out), and dispatching, in collaboration with warehouse and distribution teams.
    • Review inventory reports against physical stock levels to validate accuracy, working with the Inventory Accounting Team to reconcile system variances.
    • Prepare regular summaries of inventory control activities, discrepancies, and resolutions for management review, contributing insights to support strategic decision-making.
    • Partner with the Inventory Accounting Team to align physical counts with financial records, providing insights for reporting accuracy and ensuring all adjustments are recorded within the ERP system.
    • Assist with routine inspections to monitor the storage and handling of stock, ensuring that storage practices mitigate risks such as spoilage, damage, or shrinkage.
    • Assist with identifying and proactively addressing risks associated with inventory storage, including issues related to product expiration, handling, and temperature control. 

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Accounting or a related field
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive inventory and stock management experience
  • Proficient in financial software and ERP systems
  • Advanced skills in Excel would be an asset
