Trinidad Generation Unlimited (TGU) manages a major fuel-efficient power plant in Trinidad and Tobago. The 720-megawatt (MW) TGU facility is a combined-cycle power plant which is owned by the National Investment Fund Holding Company Limited, the latter is a wholly owned entity of the Government of Trinidad and Tobago. The plant is located at the Union Industrial Estate, La Brea and supported by a Corporate Office in Chaguanas.

Trinidad Generation Unlimited (TGU) invites suitably qualified persons to apply for the following permanent position:

INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY TEAM LEADER

Position Purpose:

This position is responsible for managing, securing and effecting the operation of the organisation’s Information Communications Technology systems and infrastructure in keeping with approved business strategies.  The Information Communications Technology (ICT) Manager must be able to demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of information and communication technology (ICT) and demonstrate strong leadership in managing both business and operational ICT functions.

Key Responsibilities:

•Management of the day to day ICT operations.

•Support and move forward the implementation of proposed ERP systems and associated solutions.

•Contribute towards the timely preparation and implementation of strategic, operational and budgeted ICT projects and plans.

•Ensure financial controls and processes for ICT are established which can be independently audited.

•Ensure the timely preparation of ICT reporting (monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual) as related to all guiding documents.

•Ensure coordination with the following Shared Service functions contained within the company’s departments: Corporate; Planning; Finance; Human Resources; Operations; Maintenance, HSE.

•Continue to prepare the ICT team for enhanced online Operations and Maintenance services and solutions.

•Assist in an in-depth training and capacity building program including coaching and the mentoring of staff.

•Responsible for the development, review, and certification of all back-up and disaster recovery procedures and plans.

•Ensure the security of the IT application/systems, communications network and physical equipment.

•Oversee the administration and maintenance of the corporate website and intranet site/portal.

•Establish and implement short-term and long-term departmental goals, objectives and policies concerning ICT for the organization.

•Design and manage systems platforms which allow for interoperability between existing company infrastructure without compromising system security.

•Plan and coordinate new system related projects ensuring achievement of the corporate goals adhering to the projects scope, time quality and budget.

•Develop and prepare annual budget for ICT plans, cost and expenditure.

•Perform other related duties to support achievement of company objectives.

Qualifications and Experience:

•BSc. Computer Science or Information Technology.

•Post graduate qualifications and/or certification will be an asset.

•At least seven (7) years experience in information technology in a large energy utility or industrial organisation with similar business and operational ICT functions, inclusive of five (5) years’ in a managerial position with responsibility for project management/execution, networking, system design and implementation and functioning in the power generation /energy sector.
