To develop and execute the human resources strategy aligned to the overall strategic direction and business plan of the organization.

This position directs the organization’s strategies in the areas of talent management, change management, organizational design, performance management, compensation and benefits administration and employee engagement. This position provides strategic leadership by articulating HR needs and plans to the Executive Leadership Team, and the Board of Directors.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Develops and executes Human Resource Strategies and supporting plans for the achievement of the Company’s strategic business and operational objectives.
  • Functions as a strategic business advisor to the CEO and leadership team regarding key strategic organizational and management issues.
  • Works with the CEO, Leadership Team and HR Management Team to establish a sound plan for talent management aligned to the strategic plan and objectives of the company. 
  • Develops and implements comprehensive strategic sourcing, recruitment and retention plans to meet the organization’s human capital needs.
  • Identifies key performance indicators for the organization’s human resource and talent management functions.
  • Works with Corporate Communications on the employer branding efforts of the organization.
  • Develops and implements compensation and benefits plans that are competitive and cost-effective.
  • Provides overall leadership and guidance to the HR Function and Team.
  • Works with the Leadership Team to cultivate and maintain a high-performance culture of the Company, including the core values and expected behaviour of employees.
  • Works with the Leadership Team to develop and maintain high levels of employee engagement and commitment.
  • Develops and implements HR policies and procedures aligned to the corporate governance structure of the organization.
  • Maintains current knowledge of industry trends and employment and industrial relations legislation to ensure regulatory compliance and evaluation of the impact on the business.
  • Guides leaders/managers and employees in resolving employee relations issues by providing effective conflict resolution and coaching with the ultimate goal of turning employee behaviour around.
  • Works with HR Managers to resolve all people problems/issues and works to develop long-term solutions for the organization.
  • Develops strategic goals, objectives and key performance indicators for HR and utilizes Performance Management System to measure, manage, and motivate performance.
  • Develops and implements staffing strategy and effectively leads a team of professionals by developing talent and cultivating a high-performance culture.
  • Directs the development of departmental budgets and monitors and controls utilization.
  • Undertakes any other assignments required from time to time, to fulfil the job purpose.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management or equivalent.
  • Master’s Degree in Human Resources. 
Experience
  • A minimum of fifteen (15) years’ experience in Human Resource Management.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years must be in senior leadership roles, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
  • Proven background as an effective Strategic HR Practitioner with a solid track record of successfully developing, implementing, and administering strategic HR plans, programs and initiatives and acting as a consultant to an organization.
  • In depth knowledge of strategic HR including but not limited to employment law, compensation, organizational planning, organizational development, organizational design, employee relations, labour relations, talent management, health, and safety management.
  • Proven record of establishing strong relationships within all levels of an organization.

  • Skills in problem solving, as it relates to identifying and resolving strategic and operational human resources issues.
